Many VoicePlay videos are epic. Truly they are some of the most talented arrangers and performers around.

This one is truly EPIC. When J None comes into the tavern, Layne makes that creaking door sound. J follows up with an amazing rap. Miracle of Sound said that VoicePlay did the most creative cover of this song and raised 10 full alehorns to them. Do check out VoicePlay's Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt). Eli did the computer-generated screens from a company that donated it for this.

He didn't say it was the most creative. He just said it was one of the "MORE" creative covers He has heard. And then raised 10 horns to them... I know because I read it "word-FOR-word".

This is sequel to their other Viking video....."My Mother Told Me" they did a couple years ago. Same characters and costumes. Only differences.... Cesar instead of Jose Rosario Jr. Cesar is wearing Jose's costume and Geoff's top. Geoff is wearing his fur as a top instead of just over one shoulder. Different location.... My Mother Told Me background is done with AI. This is done with LED full wall screens. My Mother was at Pattycake Productions. This is at Vü Studios Orlando. The AC had gone out so like the Vikings they were forged on filming in an extremely hot studio in heavy costumes. Rick Underwood, the makeup artist had to keep touching up their tattoos and makeup. And wiping their sweat. They're not known as the theater kids for nothing. Their acting and singing is phenomenal. If you want to hear them live recommend these from when they were touring and on the Sing Off acapella competition..... Road Trip. Chicken Song. Elvira. And from this year.... Voiceplay Loop 1 and Voiceplay Loop 2.

We have Eli to thank for these stunning backdrops. I think the first he did for VP was for My Mother Told Me - and now, these. Amazing art. He's also the lighting maestro for most of their performances. He has an incredible eye.

Also…dub step “instrumentation”. Yeah. No. That’s just Layne Stein being Layne Stein. He is just wickedly inventive and the king of rhythmic counterpoint. He does tend to fall into a dub steppish riff now and again. You near to hear Seven Nation Army, In The Air Tonight, and the Hall of the Mountain King for more of his tricks. I loved their cover of “Christmas Don’t Be Late” just for Layne doing a perfect jingle bells. Seven Nation Army has a lol moment for me. When he first comes in, one reactor was like “Did…did he just transform?” because he dead on sounds like an autobot. 😂 If you wanna hear the higher singers going off…their cover of Aerosmith’s Dream On. Also…they covered Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters. Their cover of Creep is a personal fave of mine. Have fun!

I also highly recommend their cover of Seven Nation Army. You can't go wrong with any of their songs but I'm recommending my favorites/the ones that pump me up/the ones I listen to at the gym. I listen to them daily because, like my coffee, I need my VoicePlay

Honestly, I could recommend one hundred and fifty videos of VoicePlay and another twenty of Geoff's... you honestly can't go wrong, really! Personal favourites for me are "Nothing Else Matters", "Dragonborn comes", "Dream On", "The Sound of Silence" (this one's just Geoff's) and every other song they ever did... so, just have fun, I guess?

@@mattofficialstudios I love your reactions to Voice Play. Please do a reaction to Voice Plays cover of Dream On originally by Aerosmith. Voice Play knocks it out of the ball park. Cesar the guy with the big hair hits the high note at the end. Also Voice Plays cover to Carry On Wayward Son originally by Kansas. Voice Play knocks it out of the ball park as well.. also Voice Plays cover of Eleanor Rigby. Also Voice Plays cover to Halo from the video game Halo. It never had any words. The composer of the music said Voice Plays cover is better than his. Make sure you listen to the tribute at the end. Have some tissues ready for that.

In terms of sheer epicness, this is, hands down, the best one from VP. Sure, they have others I love for pure musicality or for being very emotional ("True Colors" makes me cry, "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" has fantastic choral elements that make my music theory heart sing) but "Valhalla" is a banger. This is a gym workout song, it's a battle cry, something I'd play prepping for RenFaire and strapping on my sword.

Choose your genre and watch it all. My favs are their rock + game covers (of which Valhalla Calling is one). Most underrated song/cover in my opinion is In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins).

Think. The core of this group, Geoff, Eli, and Layne have been friends and singing together for over twenty years. Starting in high school, getting jobs around the Orlando area, forming a group, gaming together helping each other with their dreams. Layne and another former member of the group have a production company called Patticake Productions. VoicePlay uses their sets sometimes. If you listen to Peter Barber talk about Geoff he frequently mentions that it’s his hard work and discipline that account for his ability. Many, many people have talent. Few are willing to work every day at the boring, tedious things nobody will know about.

Ah, my favorite Voiceplay song (so far), in which Geoff hits a B0 several times! Have you checked out any of Geoff's solo stuff? It's pretty dang amazing. His "I See Fire" or "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" show of his range the most, I think. He doesn't just do songs, though, he also does narrations of Poe, Irving, and Moore ('Twas The Night Before Christmas/A Visit From St. Nicholas.") and others. How he's not constantly hounded to do audio books is beyond me. Or voicing Disney Villains...I mean, can you imagine him as Scar? At least we get to see him as Frollo, though I feel a little bad loving that so much, when he didn't really want to play that role. I mean, Frollo is easily the worst of the Disney villains.

@@mattofficialstudios The rap in "Superstition" was written by the same guy that wrote this one and it is also very apt to that song. His name is Alfredo Austin. I'm not sure if you know or not, but J None left VoicePlay in 2021 for a tour of duty with the US Navy. He is currently singing for the Navy (as a bass) in their 'Sea Chanters'. So not only was that rap on point for warriors in general, but it is very apt to the modern warrior. Listen to it again with the Navy in mind.

Small nit, please check your audio levels, your voice is so much louder than the music track so when you talk it is like you are shouting at us, and if you talk over the music with your comments it drowns out the video for the most part. I'm new to your channel, glad you are enjoying Geoff and VP!

RANT WARNING: - rant has nothing much to do with this video - I got ticked off on my own, I stayed polite I think but I have some harsh opinions - adressing religiosity and the public expression of it - maybe I am seeing ghosts because I have seen too much on the internet You have been warned. Continue reading at your own risk. I was going to look for other VP reactions... but then that video titled "10 reasons why you should always trust in god" practically jumped into my face. Look, even I don't like how sensitive I have become to that by now but... There is this pushy christian propaganda strewn all over social media and a lot of americans especially don't even seem to realize how weird and gross that seems to others. Commenting about god this god that under the most random stuff. I guess it is sort of trademark america to be oblivious of the entire rest of the world and their cultures and beliefs, but KZbin is an international platform. Americans are 333 million people but the world has near 8 billion and europe for example has 760 billion... the majority of which have internet access, speak english at least as second language and even the christians are mostly aware of the inappropriateness of foisting your own beliefs on someone else. So. I will not be looking through this channel because this is so much of a turn off for me by now. Of course my opinion on this is harsh, and I didn't even watch the video of yours that I am talking about but mayhap you were unaware and this might actually be informative for you. America frankly, is in a bit too much of an isolated bubble to be honest. While that is partially because of simple geography I encourage you to broaden your horizons in the internet. The flood of content from america outward is overwhelming but you should be able to learn about others if you try. Don't let your government turn you into ignorant fools (this isn't even conspiracy, it's history). America has a history that is both burdened by quite a few negative influences that were carried over by the european settlers and as the nation founded by them INCREDIBLY SHORT. Which is why, to learn from the past, with the cultural heritage being primarily imported from europe you should also look to european history. There's plenty reasons why religious propaganda is a... sore spot, to put it mildly, in europe. You just don't, if you have a decent education. No matter what religion you are part of. It's not for public space. Religion is private. The internet is the very opposite of private.
