BEen a dartsconnect softip player for a few years now (loving it still) but always been told granboards are better, better app, more players online, more single player games etc.. Since im in the UK its hard to get Granboards. Is this G3 a much better board than my DC board?

I appreciate the review, even 5 years later in 2024. I've played bar darts for fun in the past but recently got a wild hair to buy a board for my garage for when friends stop over. My local stores only sell Viper and Arachnid boards which seem so outdated when you see the Granboard. Currently Amazon either sells the Granboard Dash or 3s and I have not seen a v2 board. From what I can see, the big difference between the Dash & 3s is the lighting and bluetooth which you mentioned. The lighting and especially the sound makes this board stand out over other boards and seem to provide more excitement for the player vs Viper or Arachnid. I'm sure many buy it for the online match play but I don't see myself using that feature. 5 years later, do you still like this board and has it lasted that long? 5 yrs ago they were probably $250 but now pushing $310 so they are a small fortune especially if you are a once in a while with friends player.

It looked possible in the video but do you see any reason you couldn’t trim some of the black ring away from the top for low height rooms? It looks like there is a good 2” above the 20 that doesn’t need to be there

I assume you are refering to the batteries? If so, no you cannot run the LED lights off batterie. It MUST be plugged in via the USB.

I think he meant powering the LED unit using a portable charger, instead of plugging the micro usb into a power supply.

Is the out hit detection still bad? Maybe we have a bad board but we constantly have out of bound darts registering as doubles. Occasionally not even the double it was closest to.

Adjust the sensitivity settings and you should be good to go. I belive they have set the sensor settings set up for a softer throw.

I've got mine hooked up now, can i use the display on just my iPhone, or will it work on my windows 10 laptop computer? What is the best way to display? ALSO, is there any firmware updates I need to be aware of for the board itself or no? I bought it during the heyday of the pandemic so many months ago. it is working fine but is there some new firmware features or anything I need to know about that has come out lately that I need to upgrade the unit with in the last 5 months since it came in. I just started using it tonight (got it mounted to the wall tonight). My little iPhone is working fine but i'd like to have all of this come up on a big screen computer monitor on a computer running windows 10. would I have to run an Android Emulator on the computer to emulate a smart phone just to use it on a computer....or do they have a windows 10 program written yet???

It's not intended to run on a PC. Some people have found a way to make it work on PC, but I'm unfamiliar how. The app runs best on Apple products. I'd suggest buying a cheap $25 hdmi out adapter to run to a monitor or tv. That's what a lot of people do including myself. Buy one that has a charging port on it too. I'm unfamiliar if the 3s has firmware updates or not, as I've never done one. Join the "granboard online" community on facebook. You will find most answers there.

Be very interested in your current thought on the Gran Board 3? Can not seem to find the manufacturers, want to look at the community but almost impossible to find. Would you happen to have a Link? Thanks. Did you migrate to the 3s model?

I currently use the 3S and love it. I think it's their best model so far. Any online dart store will carry the Gran Boards, but they often sell out. Search on Facebook for the "Granboard Online" group. It has over 16,000 people in it. It's a great resource.

What is a good tablet for the granboard for the Bluetooth connection

iPad is by far the best tablet to use. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what Gran Darts themselves recommends for tablets. Outside of that, there are plenty that work for less money. If you can't go the iPad route then I'd join the Granboard Online group on Facebook that has 16,000+ members, search this question and you'll find tons of answers on specific tablets and how they perform. Since I personally don't use a tablet, that's the best answer I can give. Cheers.

HI, thanks for the video. Could you let me know if the GRAN BOARD 3s BLUE is more preferred than the GREEN ? I know they also have a WHITE one but it's a lot more expensive , so I'm going to go with either the GRAN BOARD 3s BLUE or the GRAN BOARD 3s GREEN. Which one would you go with , GREEN or BLUE? It's a real tough choice.

They all work the same, it's just personal preference. I personally prefer the Green look.

what other high tech boards are out there??. Can you cast to a device from the grand board or does it need to be wired?

Target and VDarts are the next closest thing, but the communities are small compared to this board. And yes, you can cast or use other adapter based devices to mirror to a monitor or tv. You download their app to a phone or tablet, and it connects to the board via bluetooth. Hopefully that helps.

Got my board today. And the biggest problem I'm having is the USB cable coming out anytime I aim for the lower half of the board. I have to manually push it back in about 5 or 6 times per game. Does anyone have any solutions to this yet?

My solution was trial and error. Eventually I found a USB cable that had a snug fit. It's not ideal, but it works.

Just here for the review but.. I have a Dart Connect board I'm not thrilled with (yep, why I'm here). Knowing the USB board inside the dart board can be a failing point. Get yourself a short pigtail that will remain attached to the board (or portable usb charger), now connect/disconnect to the cable saving wear and tear at the boards port.

Tape some of the USB wire to the back of the board with a loop hanging to take the weight stress off of the connection.

Unfortunately I took time off from streaming and doing content. BUT, I returned in December and I am fully back in action. Target Nexus is a quality board, but lacking in many features. The biggest one is the community is very small compared to Gran Board. A board can only be as good as the community.

in official darts, are bounce-outs suppose to count or not? It would seem like it's not the thrower's fault due to a faulty board causing multiple bounce-outs. Please answer right away because i'm ready to pull the trigger on a board and I NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWEer TO thiS. is this board good and where can i see the price and thanks a ton

Bounce outs DO count in soft tip if the board registers it. If it doesn't register it and it bounces out, then it's a no score for that dart.

Still love it. Lot's a new updates that have made it even better. Still has some minor issues, but nothing that can't be fixed.

As casual player, we own it for about 1 year and use it at home almost every Fridays evenings, for friends challenges. It is pretty durable, and we rarely have false scores, even if it sometimes happens. Nothing really annoying, because you can roll back to previous throw in case of problematic score. But i think the big limitating part is the app. There is not enough games in my opinion, as we can't play some bar famous games. I wish grand board will one day open the game creation to players, it could really improve the use of this board. Sorry for my bad English ;)

Do you like this board? I used to have electronic dart boards but darts will always break or not stick good to dart board:( so I got me a bristle dart board which I love bit don't play it as much cause don't like doing the math. Lol.

Every board ever made has issues. Most of the issues are user error. Gran has the largest community and lots of support. They continue to improve and update the board. I personally think you will regret getting any other board.

Yes. I've had several different versions since then. There also isn't really any other options for online options. It's kind of Gran or bust.

3s is the upgraded version of the 3. Better sound dampening, sensors, and connection. They don't make the 3 anymore, so if you can find one super cheap then it might be worth it. I personally would pick the 3s over the 3 anyday.

Update: got the 3s, vdarts doesnt have much support in my country (almost nobody buys them) so its out of stock everywhere plus if there is stock somewhere it's at some ridiculous price. also less friendly user interface on the app. maybe next time vdarts. the led board still looks nicer than the granboard.

Congrats! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the 3s. The community is massive and it's a pretty darn good board. Make sure to join the "Granboard Online" group on Facebook...has around 16,000 people in it in case you need any help or questions.

Correct. The new boards are all Gran Board 3S, the newer version of this. They are all USB C now if I'm correct.

I think this board is still good, even for offline play. Lots of games and settings to play with. Why no interest in playing online? The community is MASSIVE.

Only 4 players at a time can play and yes names are displayed. Technically you could play 8 players if you double up on each account. But they are soon to release a feature that allows for up to 8 players. This is all pertaining to offline play.

They have a newer board out now called the Gran Board 3S. It's better and a solid board. I am still streaming and playing to this day.

I have used the VDarts, Eagle Darts, Gran Board 3 and the Gran Board Dash. The Gran Board Dash is an absolute waste of money. At least 1 dart per round falls out of it. The quality is not there at all. The VDarts is a solid board but limited amount of players on at any time. Also, my least favorite app. The Eagle Board has the best app and best quality board but has the least amount of players available. It is the worst board for finding players too. I had to start my own Eagle Darts Facebook page to get players to play me. The Gran Board 3 is the best investment because there are always at least 20 players on the app available to play games with around the world. Hope this helps.

I think your description of the boards is still accurate today, 1 year leader. Only difference is, the Gran Board community is now absolutely massive. Like 100+ people online at all times. Now we have the Target Nexus, which is probably a better board than Gran construction wise, but lacking a community.

@@futbol1972 I would be hesitant to buy a 200s as I have no idea on if they have a good online community or not. Gran has 300,000 user acocunts and a very established community. An online homeboard is only as good as their community.
