Revisited: Abandoned Hooters - Monroeville, PA. Enjoy a look at this old restaurant and surrounding buildings that have been abandoned for 10 or so years now. There was a fire recently in the Hooters by an arsonist.
Here is my original video from 2018:

The AutoZone next to Peerless Wallpaper where you go up the road used to be a CompUSA, then it became an Hhgregg, then Hhgregg ended up closing in 2017, and it became a Halloween City covering the HHgregg sign. In 2018, they were done remodeling the building into AutoZone, so they took the cover off the Hhgregg sign, took down the Hhgregg down, and replaced it with the AutoZone sign. That Super Deluxe Chinese Buffet restaurant; aka the City Buffett restaurant being next to Hooters used to be an Evergreen restaurant. Hooters and Super Deluxe Chinese Buffett both ended up closing in 2013.

Yeah, I mean the building has been abandoned for so long, it probably didn't matter anyway. As for the church and cars, that's a different story and is indeed sad.

Used to pass this everyday. And it's crazy, the few times I was there as a young kid it was for Wrestling PPVs, Night of Champions specifically was my main memory. My mom used to shop at the tobacco store. And good lord did we LOVE that Buffet. So many memories in there and this lot in general. Got worried cause there was some police activity there a few days ago, and after this upload thought you were getting into some trouble. Great Videos As Always! Edit: I think your little wrap up at the end there is a really good way of looking at this and you made a really profound point with the wrestling tie-in. I tried watching New WWE and although I can watch it, I can't sit down for 3 uninterrupted hours every week, it's just not my generation anymore. The same way these buildings are no longer the businesses we talk about. Things change, everything moves and ships sail. Someone else is getting into WWE or sneaking into this lot with their friends while we talk about our food and old school ECW days. It's a kind of beautiful simple conclusion you've stumbled on to.

I loved the glass block all over western PA. I had a few homes in the Pittsburgh area and had to replace some blocks in the basements and bought them from an old glass block place literally in a creek ditch in Penn Hills. I miss all those old parts of Pittsburgh. Sucks that glass block was never popular down here in the southeast, I never see it here in Charleston.

Wallie, Please film the Triangle Grill in Swissvale! It’s an experience only in Pittsburgh. Amazing old school places like that with really unique (huge) food are so tough to find anymore. People will really love to see this old place and how massive the battleship subs are! They make the subs right in view inside the bar area with a great antique bottle wall, it would make a great “only in Pittsburgh” video.🎉😂

Classic. Never got to see it open and in action. I recall the signage a few years after it closed, then the buffet, then present day. Thanks for bringing attention to SWPA locally loved/hated little spots. In level green at the intersection of 130 and meadowbrook, there’s a garage with an outline of a body on the door. That’s been painted there and subsequently repainted by somebody every time it’s covered up. It’s been there since at least the late 70s. Perhaps you could get to the bottom of that story someday!

That area has always been called by locals as Monroeville, not WT. it’s always just been thought of as a continuation of Monroeville. Lots of good memories on that side of the bridge. Heathkit store was to the right of Hooters. Compusa was in the lot above. The old sears, McGinnis sisters, and showcase cinemas among others… one of the coolest hotels was connelys best western hotel, a 2 story hotel with a huge interior space which included an indoor pool and water slide. Sad to see that demolished to make way for Lowe’s.
