That’s the thing it was not incorrect and it will never be incorrect. What he was saying is all true. In this situation he was the victim. And for the rest of his life he will always be a victim of Tati trying to ruin his carear at just 19 years old. What he went on to do 3 year later had NOTHING to do with the Tati situation because the story he is trying to tell here is that she lied, which she did. The guy wasn’t even straight he was bi and he said that himself. If James never did that gummy bear ad she would have NEVER made that video. And I hate people saying “Tati was right all along” literally where?! No she wasn’t? She never once told us look out he likes underage boys. She said “he likes to trick straight men” then told us a false story. 🤦🏻‍♀️

what I took from the homophobic arc was that- regardless of Tati being homophobic or not, this narrative did make it easier to believe what she was saying rather than wanting to know both sides, due to the internalised homophobia that people do have they leaned more towards Tati's version of events till James came out with his video.

I think, given the fact that public opinion had everyone believing that james was innocent and not actually acting predatorily, his (over) analyzing tati's actions in a homophobic len's is fair enough. she already behaved incredibly uncharitably, the motives were up in the air, he was just pointing out 1. a possible motive, and 2. a consequence for her actions considering, whether she intended to or not, if James was innocent (again, being hypothetical), then she was acting harmfully and using harmful stereotypes to tear down the career of a 19 year old.

It's wild to see the way Adam's opinions on Tati and her video have changed in such a short amount of time. I definitely think that Tati's "Bye Sister" video has a homophobic undertone whether its intentional or not is a different discussion but it's very prevelant in the way she refers to James and his situationships at the time. IIRC, Tati was actively being sued by her business partner during the "breaking my science" Era (which is also why Tati Beauty shut down) and which is probably why she only read a statement that was prepared from her lawyer because she didn't want to catch yet another lawsuit. She had like two or three active at one time during the early 2020s, all around Tati Beauty & Halo Beauty.

So it was mostly settled outside of court and we wouldn’t have heard much about it unless one of the parties spoke out-and not speaking out about it may have been a term of that settlement. Most civil legal issues are settled out of court which may not have a public record if the court wasn’t involved. They’re considered alternative dispute resolutions. I’m only a couple minutes in but regarding Tati’s website being up despite the company being closed, it’s probably so no one buys the domain. I’m chuckling because Tati has very normal energy. A lot of us simply cannot watch the amped up nonsense of the younger, really energetic KZbinrs. it’s just a generational thing, but I don’t get why the hyperactivity is so appealing. But that’s why there are dozens upon dozens of much smaller beauty KZbinrs who are full time and comfortable financially, tho not famous or truly rich, most of whom do not scream and fill their videos with endless empty patter. There seem to be a lot more viewers over 30 in the beauty space, and cosmetics spending tends to increase with age til 65-75, when a lot of women quit makeup & incomes go down typically. I do think that Tati appeals tremendously to the 35+ crowd and the beauty space is just advertising, essentially, so money really talks and I think changes in the beauty content will continue to veer toward the preferences of the top spending groups. Ie, the olds are going to win this one…
