Yeah, the ending is rushed due to Crewniverse budget getting cut because of Ruby and sapphire kissing They are originally going to make the 6th season but their budget gets cut off Thats why the 5th season is weirdly rushed

despite all the criticism and all the videos I have seen of steven universe including all the video essays over the years. I could never shake the feeling that steven universe is actually a really interesting and beautiful show that still holds up today. There is a lot of flaws, and at some point I also jumped into the hate bandwagon, mainly because at that time the show ended and I guess I was kind of bummed out how rushed the ending was. I was just sad honestly, and seeing future made me criticize it more. But I digress. steven universe will forever be nostalgic, magical, and my most treasured show of all time. I will never forget such a masterpiece 💜💜

You share my exact thoughts. I think the show at its core is good, but there's WAYY too much filler and has a tendency to solve issues in a super anticlimactic way. The whole show probably could have been condensed down for 2 or 3 seasons if they just got rid of all the beach city episode no one cares about. I also remember thinking the finale was super dope when I first watched the show (mainly because of the Obsidian scene) but looking back the way they "Beat" white diamond makes no sense and feels super rushed.

I've seen people argue that while they may feel like filler episodes, pretty much all of them are teaching you something about a character, lore of the gems, etc. Though often this knowledge won't be brought up again until many episodes down the line.

Yeah some of the episodes regarded as filler are actually important to the plot in subtle ways, but I personally didn't enjoy the episodes that focused on miscellaneous beach city residents instead of the gems

is this a video essay, or just you talking? A video essay would have a sort of rubric, guideline to follow through to analyze media wityout being too biased. You started off strong, but your analysis became more like a list of "what you didn't like" instead of an actual analysis. While you can still keep your conclusion of "season 3 wasn't your cup of tea, because it lacked cohesion." how you reach that conclusion with reasons like season 3 amethyst being an asshole when in reality the show was fleshing out amethyst as a deeply flawed character, or hating beach city fillers when these episodes helped people believe that beach city is "real" (real in the sense that the characters feel like they do live in a geographic location) on the otherhand is just uninspired, and on later season analyses, repetitive. I feel your thumbnail is reaching an audience who wants to be challenged mentally, but you serve your largely unsupported opinions. You're either reaching the wrong audience, or you're making the wrong content.

TBF it's called "revisiting", and he talks about how he hadn't seen the show in years and came back to it. I feel like it was obvious that this was just one guy's opinion on the show? Some people just make these as a sort of journal because they feel like they have to say something about a piece of media they feel they have a love for, just to get thoughts out. Also, beach city filler truly isn't needed, you can skip someone like Ranaldo's every single scene and genuinely not miss a single thing or care about Beach City any less, and he has whole episodes.
