As you can see, Mahomes is no stranger to teammates dropping his passes.

I like how each of the three Chiefs Super Bowl winning postseasons had a legendary aspect to them. In 2019 they became the first team to not only come back from double digit deficits in three straight postseason games, but won all those games by double digits. 2022 had the Mahomes ankle injury, re-injuring it in the Super Bowl, being down 10 in the Super Bowl, again, and Mahomes having a near perfect second half punctuated with the famous run. This year had the Chiefs being on the road for the first time, taking down the #2 and #1 seeds, coming back from down 10 in the Super Bowl, again, and the game winning touchdown drive in overtime.

I work nights so my sleep schedule means I usually don't wake up till around 2-3pm later on the weekends. Now I'm probably misremembering start times before I went to bed the morning before I set my alarm for 2:50pm because I thought the game started at 3pm. Well it did start at 3 in the eastern time zone. I live in central time. I slept through the 24-0 too. The first play I saw was the kickoff after the Chiefs scored and I though just in time for kickoff to start the game only to half hazardly see 24-7 on the score bug

I was at this game. Only one person in the section I was sitting in said that we were going to come back and win. When the Chiefs took the lead anyone walking outside of the stadium who knew nothing about football would have thought a riot was breaking out, it was so crazy!

This was the first Chiefs' game I took my wife too. I told her, this is literally the best game I've ever been to. When they scored the FG to go up 24-0, she asked me what are my thoughts. I said if we could at least get a score before the half we have a chance. Damned if we didn't go into the half up.

I was in California with my wife, visiting her side of the family at this time. My wife is a SF fan and I'm from KC. I remember we went out for lunch and she asked me during half time, if I was going to take my jersey off. I said, I can't do that. Things did look bad earlier but you have to keep believing until the end. That was an unforgettable game and an even tougher loss for SF that Superbowl lol

Old guy here. I clearly remember this game! After the first quarter of gaffs, goofs, and dropped passes and punts, I was so disgusted with the sloppy and unprofessional plays of the CHEFS, I turned it off with the full expectation that KC was going to be totally blown out. After all my cursing, screaming, and yelling, I shut it off and went downstairs to my office. I proceeded to clean, organize, and file bills and statements to get ready for tax season. I planned to check the score before it ended just to get the final tally, but lost track of time. My daughter came come home, went downstairs when she asked me “did you watch that Chiefs game?” I said heck NO, it was too much of a blow out and an embarrassment of professional sports that I could not tolerate their humiliation. She answered, “uh, no the Chiefs won!” I replied “no, you’re just kidding me, there’s not any possibility of that.” She says,”not kidding it happened.” I frantically switched on the TV to check for any mention or highlights because I absolutely did not believe her, that she was playing a joke on me. Sure enough, final score KC 51, Texans 31. I was completely stunned in disbelief. How could that happen? As quickly as the flubs plagued the Chiefs, the same screwups occurred to the Texans. Except there’s were more of questionable coaching decisions. They should not have faked the punt, and definitely should have gone on the 4th and 1 inside the KC 15. One move was too aggressive and the other was too timid. Those 2 plays absolutely made a difference in the outcome. The Texans won the first quarter, but KC won the 2nd quarter which extended into 3rd and 4th. I just cannot imagine how the Texans felt at halftime, and then when the runaway train of KC offense kept it going, they must have felt their mental and physical strength just fade away. What a crash of momentum! In retrospect, losing this game for the Texans must have been humbling, but what followed was truly a disaster. If I recall correctly, shortly thereafter Bill O’Brien was fired as coach and general manager. They had a good running back traded away, along with JJ Watt, Deandra Hopkins, and Desahun Watson. The team was essentially blown up and left for dead, which they were until drafting CJ Stroud and making the playoffs in 2023. One franchise destroyed by the KC Chiefs. Thanks for the memories Jackson!

You talk about the crowd getting them into the game... I'll never forget playing the raiders and Chiefs had scored 0 points at that point, and were down multiple touchdowns. Then Chris Jones sacked Derek carr for a fumble that he recovered, but was called for a absolutely horrible roughing the passer call. He clearly put his hand down to brace the fall and the crowd went insane seeing the replay. And started booing the refs. This went on for about 30 min, real time. And I 100% believe the crowd got them back into that game. The best fans in all of sports!!!

I remember this game so well! I thought the Chiefs curse had come back with an ugly vengeance. The year before the Chiefs had battled to the AFC Championship and lost by 4 inches to an offside penalty. I was SO PISSED watching the first quarter I almost turned it off. LOL! Then Mahomes showed exactly why he is the leader of the Chiefs and bitch slapped that curse out of existence!

Tom Brady gets a lot of credit for the 25 point comeback because it occurred in the SB. But people forget he created that deficit by throwing a pick 6. Mahomes came back from down 1 less point and he did NOT create the deficit. His teammates were letting him down

That kick return lit the fuse for us. The only reason he went another 20 yards after he stepped out was no whistle was blown and he only BARELY stepped out so without a whistle he wasn’t sure even the Texans weren’t sure.

Another funny thing is with 0:45 seconds left in the 2nd half the Texans drove down the field to kick a game tying field goal to make it 27-27 to end the half. The kicker just straight up missed the kick. Just a funny thing about how much the tables had turned

Regarding KC Wolf's performance against HOU, his target audience was the folks in the special club at Arrowhead, where the players pass through after the game. That's why there's the transparent barrier, and you can also see folks in attendance in the top right corner. Check Chiefs postgame footage for a better view of the club area. He likely knew about the camera, because Arrowhead's been his stage long enough that he knows where all the cameras are, but I doubt he was thinking much about it at the time.

I always thought it looked like he thought the rule about not being able to advance the football after the turnover was applicable in this situation. I thought he was showing the refs he recovered the fumble but all his teammates started yelling at him to run it into the endzone which is when he suddenly starts moving fast.
@andrewsercer9538
@andrewsercer9538 2 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm pretty sure (but I guess it's all speculation, as I don't recall if he was ever questioned about it) that he was holding up the ball because he was starting his celebration thinking that play was over. You can clearly see him let up to about half speed after catching the ball. Then, after urgent motions and cajoling from his teammates, realized that the play is still live and picks his speed back up after a few moments.

Its the go for it everytime mentality that loses a lot of games these daysm Kicking a FG TO GO UP 24 isnt EVER a bad decision. It's only bad if your defense is garbage or you bet the over.

Only a bad decision in hindsight, never during the game. You NEVER expect your defense to play that porously or all the bad plays/turnovers etc. Every HC in the league would do the same exact thing.

The crowd had watched 20 years of playoff chokes. Every way imaginable. Every QB, Kicker, Coaching, and defensive blunder imaginable. We finally had a franchise QB and this curse seemed to even yet be upon us. When Kelce Scored his first TD we knew, this shit is over. This team isn't letting this happen. The Texans were a soft team and Mahomes was not a guy who would allow a blowout. It's not in his DNA. He make look like a duck with sore hips when he scrambles but he's a fighter. That was the day a dynasty was born. That's when a team full of young men realized they could be something special. Mahomes began a playoff run more dominant and special than Brady or Montana.

I remember watching this game, and weirdly never really felt like the Chiefs were out of it. They were making a bunch of dumb mistakes, but they were still moving the ball and had been basically unstoppable that year. Definitely wasn't expecting them to win by multiple touchdowns, but I at least expected them to make it close by the end.

It's weird, being a Texans fan, only now am I able to go back and watch games like this. I just can't watch games like this one or the Bill's vs Oilers, etc.. They only seemed to remind and cement the fact that Houston football will always disappoint and most importantly of all will practically always, and I do mean always find a way to lose games they should have won and they will always, always, always lose close games, especially if it requires coming from behind to win. Games like this were more an exercise in sadism on part to attempt to watch the highlights. Something changed this year, fot the first time ever I am able to watch highlights like this an just appreciate them for what they are. Now, what I'm about to say could change drastically over the next year or so, but I genuinely do not fear close games anymore. I actually feel like the Texans will more than likely win every game if it comes down to the last plays to determine who wins or loses. And another weird thing is I don't feel that way just about our offense and CJ Stroud, but our defense too. There were a bunch of games we won that required our defense to win games at the last second. And almost every single time, they pulled it off. Regardless, the Texans very well may crash and burn this next season and all the ones after. All I know, for once, I genuinely have hope in this team and love not just the players but the coaching staff as well. I mean come on, watch Demeco Ryans on the sidelines and the way he treats his players. How could you not love this guy. For the first time in a long time, I'm not just proud to be a Texans fan but a Demeco Ryans, CJ Stroud, Will Anderson Jr., Tank Dell, Stingley, Schultz, etc... fan. It really is great to be a Houston football fan!

By the end of the first, we were trying to boo them off the field. This was the end of a 50 year SB drought where we perennially embarrassed ourselves every year in the first round. We were angry. The team was angry. It was cold and we had all given so much to be there. And then he flipped the switch. You declined to talk about the rest of the game. But there are a couple of things here. The first is that this is the game that put teams on notice. Can you score 40? Then don't bother showing up. The second is my favorite fact of this game. We scored so much, the stadium ran out of TD fireworks. Ran em dry.

I hadn't noticed this before, but Mahomes was clearly past the line of scrimage when he threw for the 4th KC touchdown. The narrator here says that he wasn't past the line of scrimmage, but he was easily 2-3 ft BEYOND the line before he let go of the pass. Wow, I'm not sure how that touchdown play wasn't overturned, but It obviously doesn't matter now.
