Revisiting the Coreboot x201 with ME_Cleaner & Thinkfan!

I revisit the coreboot x201 thinkpad with ME_Cleaner as a usable setup.

I have been subbed to you for a long time now, I love thinkpads and all things GNU/Linux. Did you change the screen? X200s screen assembly on X201 bottom? Does this work with an X201s screen assembly on a x201 bottom as well?

I swapped the display with a x200s 1440x900 assembly. This works for the x201, but I haven't owned a x201s before, so I am unsure. I'd give it 50/50 odds, if you have the parts already it might be worth a try. I'd check thinkpads forums as well. Good luck and have a good day :D

I'd check ME_Cleaners page also check if someone has tried it on your hardware before: github.com/corna/me_cleaner/wiki/me_cleaner-status After that to apply it you just run the python script. If it is internally flashable, I'd still get a flash programmer. Just in case of a brick.

I think libreboot did support it in the past, with similar issues. There is also this one on github: github.com/nieldk/coreboot-x201 Their me cleaner arguments are: CONFIG_ME_CLEANER_ARGS="-S -w EFFS", on the github link. I'd probably go with that one, but worst case I can probably send a rom if you email me.

just got an x201T. this thing runs hot! up to 98 degrees on HWmonitor. is this normal?

@@tripcodeQ7 after you commented that i got some arctic mx6 and repasted it. these computers are NOT fun to take apart lol. it came together though and its running a lot cooler now
