Working on hospitality sector projects and multi use facilities I can say food equipment is huge! Definately a welcomed change. Refrigeration would have been another great category to introduce.

Excellent Breakdown of the new Features Gavin. Batch selection of Filters is definitely a nice quality of life bump. As is Shared Parameters now being available to the Key Schedules. But I agree - the real gem is the ability to now have the custom revision sequences - no more Janky ISO 19650 compliance workarounds for me (in 2 years that is... once all my currently live projects are closed and I can move the company up the version ladder :D ) Thanks again for the stellar video. Niall

Thanks Niall! Yep I know many UK firms will appreciate that update in particular. It has actually been a good way to see how few forms outside the UK are on the standard - seems very few highlight reels identify this benefit so far that I've seen. Some go as far to say tapered walls are more exciting - bah!
@8020BIM
@8020BIM 3 жыл бұрын
@@AussieBIMGuru I couldn't give a rats a$$ about the tapered walls (although from the Civils perspective I will definitely be using them for retaining walls). Improvements in one aspect of one System Family category is a low impact change as far as I am concerned compared to something as fundamental as revision controls, Schedule control etc.

They have really stepped up the quality of life features, but this puts into sharper focus the rant video. Most construction subcontractors are going to be trapped without these new features for a few more years to come. Terrible that they never try to put these new features in previous build updates.

Very nice video and easy explained 👍. If I can say I was expecting Autodesk to do more work on general Revit performanse, mostly because industry is moving more and more to prefabrication. For example improvements in Steel connections, rebar detailing miss still huge improvement and especially Revit ability to manage high detail models which we need to have if we want to produce elements and if I am not wrong that was one of the points in the latter. Thanks again for the nice video, great work
@AussieBIMGuru

Yes model detail is becoming a challenge. It seems autodesk usually recommends upgrading hardware rather than reworking the software.

Any news on instance data import from Excel into elements in groups? In large housing projects we have to use groups, but in the past there has been limitations to data import from Excel to elements in groups.
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
This is still limited. You can only modify grouped element properties on an instance basis if they're not defined at the group level, which is set in the project parameter settings when first created, or for a few default ones like mark.
@RasmusBroennum
@RasmusBroennum 3 жыл бұрын
@@AussieBIMGuru That is the setup i already use . But i’ve had problems when trying to import data into a schedule from Excel if elements are prt of a group. Tried a bunch of add-ins and some Dynamo, but seemed none if them would push data into elements in groups. (Even if the project parameter setup is dine correct:-). In huge door schedules i could really need a solid way of importing third party data. If you say it can be done just fine, i will give a try again. Thank you, Jedi Master:-)
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
@@RasmusBroennum I just tested a model with some walls and a project parameter that has 'values can vary by group instance' ticked on, and it seemed to work using a standard set parameter method in Dynamo. The main limitation I could see here is that some parameter types don't allow variation per group such as length parameters.

Okay that was too fast on my part. while watching your video uninstalled the revit 2021 and downloaded 2022. So, do you encourage not opening 2021 files in 2022, rather make new projects in 2022 and let the 2021 be worked in the 2021 version of revit ? And thanks for a great video once again.

Is there still an arbitrary limit on tbe number of filters you can have in one schedule? Can you add an "or" clause to the filter, so that it can include more information, rather thsn just constantly winnowing down?
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they increased the filter count a few versions ago but schedule filters still have a cap. I couldn't see any/or combinators in schedule filters, only in view filters.

@@AussieBIMGuru Shame. Otherwise this was a very fine rundown of features that have already been in ArchiCad for 10 years. Thanks.
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes some of these things are in ArchiCAD for a long time I know. I think the thing still missing from ArchiCAD that they should focus on now is engineers (I hear from so few of them actually using it), and a non-gdl family editor (paramo was a nice try though) - Revit got this feature VERY right in my opinion. Once they solve these two things, I think they can more viably entice users away from Revit. They need to hire a new marketing team too, the current one seems quite weak vs the autodesk one.

24:18 View filtering by phase. Why not simply use Phases>Graphic Overrides?
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
A few potential use cases, such as filtering multiple phases without hiding, more easily auditing phased models visually and using different phasing graphics depending on element types. It should be used in addition to phase filters vs in place of however.
@pavillon9365
@pavillon9365 3 жыл бұрын
@@AussieBIMGuru Correct, but I think that issues in "Double Overrides" might occur. Phasing is still minefield and if you give User/Modeller possibility to filter by Phase, a Manager can be easly confused wich Overrides is actually used (If Phase Filter , or Visual Graphic Filter). That is Ofc my personal opinion.
@AussieBIMGuru
@AussieBIMGuru 3 жыл бұрын
@@pavillon9365 any system is a minefield in the wrong hands in revit. I agree it needs to be used intentionally and with care. It will certainly help residential clients meet some town planning graphics revit cant achieve with phasing alone for sure though
