Nice share. Depth queuing + silhouettes / linework for outlines seems to be the way to go.

Thanks! I am always hesitant to use Silhouette edges because you cant control the results.... And you will undoubtable have some things with super wide lines that you did not want to have wide lines.

I understand the depth cueing and shadows you added. However, my question is how were you able to get the splash of color in the windows? When you show the comparison of what you can do with depth cueing there is an aesthetic change to the elevation other than shadows and depth, but this is not explained.
@TheRevitKid6 жыл бұрын
Hey michael... The splash of color is covered in my longer tutorial series "BIM After Dark - Volume 1" - bimafterdark.com/volume1.html ... I can't give it ALL away for free!! ;) A little hint.. it has to do with the material of the glass.

Any idea why my model would disappear when i set my far clipping to "clip without line"? I don't mean just a linked model, the whole model. it is set through a view template which is applied to other elevations and the model is visible. it's just the one elevation.
@nl97863 жыл бұрын
Check your far clip distance. E.g. if your elevation marker starts at 10' offset from the wall and far clip is set to or less than that number, the model will not display.

Thank you!!, I have a problem when I try to export in on PDF, because there I can see the all drawing is very very light (not only the areas that I want to see light, I refer that all the drawing is very light) , and this problem is when I use this option of Depth Cueing. Do you know if there is a solution?.. Greetings from Perú =)
@TheRevitKid2 жыл бұрын
That has to do with your PDF exporter, etc... When the view gets "rasterized" it tends to be lighter... You may want to crank up the darkness and view depth cueing to see if that helps.

Is there a way to match the color of the line work to the specific element/line where line work is applied. I mean when you use line work at the far elements and you select line types it won't match because the line work is black. and far lines are already grey. I want it to be grey color line as well, does it mean I need to create a new line type that would match on that line?
@TheRevitKid Жыл бұрын
If you are using line work override and not depth queueing then yes, you need a line type for whatever lines you are trying to override with
@ravensarkitv2519 Жыл бұрын
@@TheRevitKid ow thanks buddy. Seems a bit tricky on this part, as you need to guess for close grey value to match on in. Hopefully in the future revit would have a solution to this, like a switch button to automatically blend line works color.
@TheRevitKid Жыл бұрын
@@ravensarkitv2519 I expand on this in my blog post for this video… You do have a decent amount of control over the amount of greyscale. Check it out here > therevitkid.blogspot.com/2018/08/revit-tutorial-adding-depth-to-your.html

@@ravensarkitv2519 Change the surface patern forground color of the material to solid and to the desired color (in our firm we use light grey) NOTE: this means that this color will be visible on evey elevation and section (you could use filters and overrides to get rid of the color in views where color is not desired)

hi sir! I have a problem printing shaded elevation into pdf, lines aren't sharp
@TheRevitKid3 жыл бұрын
Once you go shaded the printing method is Raster... You'll need to crank up your raster settings for your PDF printer.
@thedetroiters3 жыл бұрын
@@TheRevitKid It's too bad Revit only prints shaded views as raster. It pretty much makes printed shaded views on drawings useless for larger projects.

@@TheRevitKid hello, The problem is that the option you use ( Depth Cueing) in graphic display options , dont apear in my revit 2016. I dont know if this option only apear in other revit versions , like 2017, 2018, and 2019. Or maybe in revit 2016 this option is in another part of the program . I dont know how to find it . Thank you for your help

Carolina Andrade yes, you are right .. that option is not in 2016... if you dig through my channel for the earlier version of this video you will see my method for doing it without depth cueing! Cheers!

If you watched the intro i mentioned that this was extracted from a larger course … so yes, it is a single chapter in a much longer video series that can be found here - community.bimafterdark.com
