My method uses a sacrificial roof for calculating rise/run. Copy & Paste the roof element and use the modify sub elements to set your point heights. Works really nicely.

That makes sense! Nice tip, Alex!

I realized that this video is 5yrs old... It still is an awesome tutorial.... Would you be able to do a tutorial on how to do the crickets on a roof that has a slope. Basically is what you did in the fist part but adding to crickets to that sloped roof. I hope all is well!

What is the best practice for a adding roof drain crickets to a roof that already has a constant defined slope? The Modify Sub Elements are not an option once you a define a constant slope. I see some people just model crickets as an in-place model but this seems like it should be a basic function to add crickets to both a flat and constant sloped roof.

Bret Kennemer Bret, I have an adaptive cricket family for those instances... Instead of modeling it in place you simply click start and finish points and set the pitch... You could also use the modify sub elements instead of the slope to create a constant pitched roof if need be.

***** With using a cricket family I assume you would have to model the insulation and recover board separately or you would have recover board running under your crickets. I don't really understand why autodesk could not build Sub Elements into a constant slope roof. If using the sub elements to create constant pitch, then the structure would have to be flat, correct? Or is there a way to control the bottom plan of the roof as you can the top?

I have a roof that is sloping to the parapet. I'm taking sections for final drawings in several places where the roof meets the panels. I also have a structural model linked in with the actual slope and location of the structure. Creation of crickets and drain locations on a flat roof with variable insulation does not work because I have structural members showing the actual slope. Is there a way to control the slope of the structure separately from the surface elevation of the insulation?

does Revit LT have this same function or do you need the full Revit software?
