Do you know if its possible (i don't think so) to make the wrapping portion of a layer thinner than the original thickness. So for example that the exterior insulation material is 5cm but when it wraps towards inside, it should be 3cm. I couldn't find any way to do that. If you have any ideas I would be glad to hear :) Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the video! Does this also work in sections? It seems to me like the wrapping only works horizontally (as shown in the video), but not vertically.

I liked your video tutorial it's very helpful and the quality of your tutorials is very good audio and video quality is good.can you make a video tutorial on how to create custom projects browser organization.

Hi Ali, thanks for the positive feedback. I will indeed do a tutorial for Revit browser organisation. Bear with me though, have a backlog of about 50 requests to get through 😂 Niall

Hi. Thank you for sharing! I still don't understand how you created the "cavity closer" . Is that a solid element within the family or 2d detail?

Great video. Is there a way to get the internal p/b finish to wrap around so it butts the window frame as it would in real life rather than the p/b being flush with the structure, if that makes sense?
@8020BIM4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike. I actually touch on this in the Video. The difficulty is that the Frame for a widnow normally Matches the Ope Size. This is true in construcion, but generally we are talking about the Structural opening and the frame matching. We then return our finishes (redner, PLasterwork, Skim etc) into the opening and butt the frame as you have suggested. Revit struggles with this for a number of reasons (too many to cover in this short response) so I'll try my best to offer a solution. In short, to my knowledge at least, there is no way to realise the material butting the frame with the standard Wall Closer and Wrapping utilities in Revit. My suggestions would be as follows: 1) Model the return finishes independently so the wrap and butt the window / door frame. A simple wall hosted rectangular generic model family extrusion that you can apply instance dimension parameters to would suffice. If you choose this method, make sure your finish material wrapping is turned off. This would be my preferred way of doing this if it HAD to be modelled. 2) Detail items may suffice to resolce this locally at scales of 1:20 or less. Might save a bit of frustration but leave the modelling exercise incomplete. 3) Edit the Window Family to have the Frame extend the finish thickness further than the wall opening. This is problematic however as your window scheudles will report incorrect overall widths. Sorry - I appreciate this response is lengthy but I hope it gave you some insights for how ot finish your exercise correctly. Let me know what you eventually opt to do to resolve the issue. Regards, Niall

Thanks Niall, I knew there wouldn't be a quick fix. I'm just a bit fussy. I even would go as far as put the dabs for the p/b in the wall make up as an adhesive. I think I may just make it a seperate detail. Keep up the good work. Mike
@8020BIM4 жыл бұрын
I'm right there with you Mike, but prefer the label "exact" over fussy 😅 Revit can be quite annoying sometimes when you compare it to the ease of detail development in CAD or similar 2D drafting platforms, but from the commercial perspective the speed of modelling, drawing development and quality of coordination cannot be disputed. But things like this can feel like a real issue as they seem so straightforward. Thanks again for reaching out, feel free to fire any other questions my way in the future. Regards Niall

Thanks Niall, I'm only just trying to move over to revit from over 20 years AutoCAD experience. I'll get there in the end. Best regards Mike

If the window/door family does not contain the closure parameters, is there a quick way to add those?
@Tsanito3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Add a reference plane parallel to the wall, select it and check "Wall Closure" in the properties. And then it's good practice to add parameter to control its depth.

Hi, is it possible to wrap Top of wall in Revit?
@8020BIM3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. No, you cannot wrap the top of a wall or a wall above something such as a door or window opening. This is because these elements are usually different from the overall wall construction in real life. For example, generally walls do not wrap the same material over the top but are likely to have a parapet or flashing profile to close out the top of the wall and prevent water ingress. Walls supporting a roof would also break away from their standard construction to include a cavity closer and soap-bar arrangements. The same is true above openings as you would require a lintel or beam arrangement over the larger openings. Hope this sheds some light on why they do not have top of wall wrapping as a default in Revit. Make sure to reach out again shold you have another question. Niall

@@8020BIM We have different method of construction here in Mauritius, wall is made of blocks (150/200mm) cover both side with cement screed (15mm thick) , For boundary wall for example we have on the top a beam same width as the block & covered top with cement screed. Thanks for your help and support
@8020BIM3 жыл бұрын
I understand - you need the Screed to wrap over top. I would recommend creating a stacked wall - Top two layers of the stack shoud be the beam with screen on either side and the top stack should be a full wall width screed. I would recommend looking into stacked walls - it should give you the solution you require. Niall

Hello, from which library did you take the windows and doors used in your tutorial? Thank you!

Hey Andrei, Doors and Windows were derived from the standard UK Metric Library. Hope this helps, Niall
