REVIVAL at Asbury University: 'If God Wants It to Happen, It's Going to Happen'

WILMORE, Kentucky - It's been a week since a regular Wednesday chapel at Asbury University in Kentucky turned into something far more: a revival. God has been moving among the students and faculty in a powerful way.
CBN News visited the revival here at Asbury during its sixth night as hundreds of people have come from near and far to enjoy the presence of God - and even at midnight, the auditorium was still packed with more people still coming in.
Asbury University President Dr. Kevin Brown told us, "The last 2 evenings, we estimated well over 3,000 people that are here at the different locations to worship the Lord... There's no playbook for this. We're still trying to create some space for what's happening here and so that's a delicate balance and we're trying to manage it as thoughtfully and faithfully as we can and steward what's happening on campus."

You can only revive what was once alive. Many believers have become one with the spirit of the world through doctrinal errors, lack of the fear of God and the hijack of church leadership by charlatans. If corporate revival wasn't necessary as you insinuate, God wouldn't have been pouring out His Spirit at various times all through history. Let's not insult Him by trying to impute that He is wasting His time by sending refreshment from His presence to revive His children.

Getting together and expressing your love for God is great. What an opportunity to actually have someone delve into the Bible and use this time to grow some of these young people in Gods word also. That is one of the biggest shortcomings, all emotion, little foundation to actually explain the gospel message and to have an answer with scripture when the opportunity arises. Emotions come and go. @@jerrylisby3440 Look, my good man, I was also skeptical at first. In fact, I remain very cautious. However, I don't condemn these people or what is happening at Asbury. Rather, I pray that Jesus Christ would be glorified and that the Holy Spirit would convict people of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Only time will tell if this revival is a real movement of God. Until then, I remain hopeful.

I am sure there are some well meaning people involved but it really is just confusion. You want revival, read your bible. That old King James Bible will jump start you into a strong love for God and his coming Kingdom pretty quick. Love not the world, neither the things in the world. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. Wish you well sister.

Their first revival was back in 1970 at Asbury University. I just watched it a few days ago. From my understanding it all started back in 1970 with the testimony of one of the students. Lasted about 6 or 7 days and nights if not mistaken.

I hear a lot of singing, see lots of emotionalism, but I have not heard any Bible Preaching, When Jonathan Edwards preached during the Great Awakening Revival , grown men, soldiers broke out weeping crying out to the Lord Jesus Christ for mercy.

They are praying and worshiping God. That’s not emotionalism. Besides we are not robots. Prayer and worship is a form of spiritual warfare. Which is what the U.S. needs desperately. And as a former worship leader, I will say that Worship songs are inspired by Bible verses. A worship song is like a sermon but in musical form. Pay attention to the lyrics next time. It’s a very powerful tool that God uses to touch people’s hearts.
