Still have mine from the 70’s!…and a half century old scar on my finger from the first use. Sure would have thought the scout knife would came with a lock blade. Would have been safer for a kid’s first knife.

Great video! I got my dad's Boy Scout knife out of a box the other day. It's from the 1950s and had a lot of rust and grime on the blades and in the mechanics, but I've used your video and a few others to begin putting it back into working order.

They were a common scout tool, though a bit rough around the edges when compared to a modern SAK. But, the history and patina of these older pocket knives make them remarkable. Great you have dad's knife and can maintain it too.

I just restored the same knife. Found out the short screwdriver model was made 1958-1964 or so. I posted pictures on my Instagram.

hi i received my cub scout knife in 1965 it is the twin to yours, except my knife blade is a lot more worn then yours, my father bought it brand new for me, i would carve my pine wood derby cars with it every year i still have it but have not used it in years. thank you for your video, great memory's

Have not experienced a white patina. If it is superficial then the rubbing compound should cut through it. Follow with the polishing compound for luster. Lastly, I have used a very fine grit wet/dry sandpaper to remove decals and printing from the "handles" followed by rubbing (cutting) compound and polishing compound ... be careful as you can accidentally remove metal SAK logo too.
