We bought a 242,000 mile BMW E46 330Ci and decided to revive it to live the rest of its glory days on the race track! The car is SUPER clean and has relatively nothing wrong with it, but will it stay that way?
First order of business is to evaluate the vehicle and do the prep work to get it ready for the track. In this episode we take a trip to Columbus, Ohio to purchase the car & change our basic fluids; differential fluid & an oil change with some extra goodies from ‪@liquimolywebtv‬! We also remove our rear subframe/diff and swap all of our bushings with PowerFlex bushings to get some of the original new car feel back in our suspension before we put this car to the test on track.

I'm psyched about you guys fixing up this car! I have the same exact 330CI w/ a 5 speed (as well). Looking forward to getting some ideas! 😋

Lol instead of saying cold start sounds pretty good. I was thinking how good that starter sounds. It sounds replaced I just did that job on my e46 without removing Intake manifold and from underneath. It’s easier I find and no need to introduce new vacuum leaks!

Also don’t just replace the shifter bushing won’t solve ur slop, you need to also replace the UCC bushing that causing most of the play.

All the sun damaged plastics under the bonnet are easy to restore, i took all mine off my B5 A4 and soaked them in tyre shine spray then left them in the sun for a couple of days reapplying spray whenever it looked dry or had soaked in. Wiped them clean then installed them and they look brand new. I dont even have to put anything on them now i just wipe them and they are beautiful haha.

e46 is a timeless chassis, have the same model. currently cleaning it up to an oem + style, going to enjoy it for a few years and then track it

Doesn’t the engine flush destroy and break down the pistons rings especially ones that worn out?

E90 doesn’t have a dipstick. So i cant use a fluid extractor!

Fluid extractor does not collect all the dirt from the bottom of the pan. Regular oil drain plug is much better.

Heard that adding engine flush on higher mileage cars (+120k mi) for the first time can cause engine problems. Can you debunk this? Thanks

Well this is a delayed video, so we have a few track weekends on it by the time this video dropped. No issues with the engine flush at all, made 208 WHP on the dyno. For a stock car, that's amazing! 10/10 would flush it again.

I see an equal amount of videos saying not to do it and to do it. They always mention carbon build up forming seals but I'm still going to do it on my car. I plan on using redline fuel system cleaner to clean the top of the pistons and liqui moly oil flush.

@@CliffB5A4 Yeah there is a lot of differing results/thoughts/comments. We did an oil change on two of the same cars, one with a extractor and one with a drain plug, then we pulled the pans. The fluid extractor removed a bit more than the drain plug oil change, but a reallllly long drain plug removal for an hour or so might get the most. Basically, it's a coin flip.

Y’all have a lift and still decide to use a fluid extractor for the top? That seems kinda lazy to me. But do you I guess, clearly you guys are “professionals”

Maybe trying to mimic what the regular guy can do or not do? The goal is maybe to sell extra parts... I'm sure they have an oil extractor But I thought Abt the same... Why not via oil pan

It's faster, less messy, and we've done back to back testing comparing fluid extraction vs. drain plug extraction and the fluid extractor simply works better.
