You may find this interesting. The 57 Sears walk behind had a 8TH Briggs engine...it only had about a 1" crankshaft length. A pulley went on it, that went to a double pulley...the shaft to the blade was here, and the belt to the wheel drive. It had a foot pedal at the rear of the mower deck. The engine was mounted on a pedestal...when you pushed the pedal down, it tightened the belts. So, you could start the engine without the blade turning. It had a 2 3/4 go engine...and was front wheel drive...in bright red paint..the foot pedal was silver...it locked in the down position and was easily lifted by your foot.

A Rural Vermonter - Qqjmcb 182 I used it quite a bit at one time...it was heavy...but so unique I remember everything about it.

Curious, this engine has electric start why not use it??
@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb1826 жыл бұрын
good question, it did not have a battery hooked up to it, and i didn't want to take one out of another mower to use. I figured it would save time to pull start it.

Electric Starters are just something else to break.

it would be cool to see one of those motors on a mini bike or something say like the motor mount rusts apart you could use the engine for something else

First check leakdown to check rings, valves, and head gasket. Replace the carburetor. Tighten the head bolts. Adjust the valves. Tune the engine.

I noticed you used spray carb cleaner when cleaning and rebuilding carb, I read somewhere that the chemicals in that cleaner is not good for small carbs? have you ever experienced any issues since you work on them so often?

nope, never had any issues

Hector Torres they're not good for any rubber gaskets. Just take those off if possible prior to cleaning. I mean "carb cleaner" cleans carbs!
