When you started the car you didn’t use the battery under the seat. As you can see the clocks reset when you managed to start it, this is because you turn the key counter clockwise, by doing that you tell the car to use the aux battery in the boot, when it switches to the boot battery the car will be momentarily without power and thus the clock resets. To only use the main battery under the seat you should use the keyless button on the centre console, or using the key inside the dash,but you should turn it only clockwise without backing it up for a instant counterclockwise, if the key is stuck and will not pull out it mens the main battery is very low and the car ends up in a limbo, not having enough power to switch to the aux battery and also unable to release the solenoid holding the key blade in the dash.

Had a similar issue on a Mercedes SUV. worked fine sometimes then it would suddenly not turn on again, it would drain the battery FAST and then sometimes work perfectly ok. Turned out to be the fuses, prior owner had messed with them and put the wrong kind of fuses in multiple slots. Im lucky it didnt cause an electrical fire....but i sorted out the correct fuses and its been working perfectly for about 2 years now

Battery definitely needs to be load tested on a battery tester. The cockpit battery is usually the culprit with the touareg. All sorts of nonesense happens. Those batteries charge up but when they are dodgy they drain out and might give you around the 12 volt mark but wont have the stored energy in them.. Sort it and drive it and you will be impressed.

The battery is knackered. 11.98 after 9 hours of charging is not good. You need a proper battery check tool to be sure but it should go to 12.4v basically in a few hours then end up at 12.9-13.1. The little colour thing in the hole is not trustworthy, its just a pellet that reacts to the electrolyte level.

What all needs changed to do the facelift? Is it hood, grill and fenders? Also, on touaregs, there are factory wire splices behind the driver's side (US) kick panel's that corrode very badly due to the sunroof drains. There are 3 I believe in total on the U.S. V8 model's. I believe it's the same for all models. It's an easy fix once you get into it. Also, the kessy system is a known battery drainer on the 1st gen. I took the kessy box out and took the 2 modules off of the board. Then I took the door panel's off and unplugged the door handle buttons. Once I took care of those 2 issue's, I've had no more battery drain issue's with mine. Best of luck to you, I look forward to seeing how this goes for you.

@Rokus19762 жыл бұрын
No that's not ok! 11.98V It should be around 12.5 V but closer to 13V is normal for a fresh battery! So Im pretty positive it's the battery, if it sinks that low (9V) during cranking your battery is just not up for the 'electronics job'. Those electronics need a more than healthy battery or they will go haywire. Got that from Scotty Kilmer on his channel, cheers..!

I own a 2005 V10. They don’t like bad batteries so would definitely change them. Lock to lock will clear the steering fault if it’s not actually faulty. It’s definitely running a face lift front end and is a 2004, it’s still got the pre-facelift mirrors. At this age and mileage the common faults are; Water pump Generator Oil/water gaskets in the V Thermostat Tandem pump Cam wear, especially when using wrong oil Failing plasma coating on the piston bores Bad injectors Poor glow-plugs wiring harness General suspension parts Aircon compressor Suspension compressor Residual air valves on the suspension I’ve changed most bits without pulling the engine 👍
@simonj32472 жыл бұрын
If that is a hard fault on the steering angle sensor that would stop the air suspension from working. Then again it will need running for a mile or two just to make sure…

Hi. I'm glad that it saveble. Commented on the last video about the facelift. The rear lights are also "lifted". Facelifted versions have them factory tinted. I have 2008 v6 Touareg with all the radar cc, heated steering, airride, keyless and all the goodies. Have had it 8 years. Yes the electrical grimlins are there and you have to budget 1500 to 2000€ every year for maintanance but i still love it. 176kw chipped to 195kw or so. + airlift on sport and it behaves like a normal car not suv. I woult like to feel v10 once. But i know i cant own it :D

As basically everyone else said - get new batteries. These cars eat batteries for breakfast. If the alternator was faulty, there would have been codes for it ("Intervention load management") and the "Consumers are switched off" message in the dash. Lucky you don't have the DPFs and the ridiculously complicated EGR cooling circuit of the 2006+. I've got all the SSP's and a bunch of other random docs on the V10 if you want them.
@Parastorm.2 жыл бұрын
Don't dismiss the batteries. checking the voltage is not a great indication on battery condition, get them load tested. (halfords will do it and it can be done off the car) also check the alternator the car wouldn't start after it stopped and it sounded like flat batteries, these are very power hungry cars. Good luck with it.

A fully charged battery should be showing 12.7 volts or above. Leave em on charge for 36hrs at least if you have a smart charger, you may well be able to save them both. If its down to 2 volts and you whack fast charge into it, then it wont recover properly and you risk the plates inside possibly bending.
@themadcountoffarkamhall2 жыл бұрын
Ignore the indicator ball on batteries, they're a poor guess at best. All they tell you is the state of the electrolyte in that one cell, nothing about the state of the other five. Also as others have said 12v is no good. New battery (and tyre please!). 1:57 "2004 car" - but first registered September 2003? While the ECU and bulkhead plate vins match, i would uncover the windscreen one for peace of mind.
