Reviving the Rabab, a Traditional Instrument from the Kashmir Valley

A group of filmmakers from Kashmir recently paid a musical tribute to popular television series Game of Thrones, also a tribute to Kashmir and its natural beauty. The video, which is being used by the state’s tourism ministry, is making waves across the internet. The six-minute long composition brings together Game of Thrones, one of the most popular examples of Western popular culture, and the rabab, one of the oldest traditions of Kashmir, and one that is on the path of revival. Modern Western music is directed to appeal to animalistic behaviour of humans, while traditional Kashmiri music appeals to soul of a person. Along, with the lyrics of Kashmiri sufis, the traditional Kashmiri music makes a person ecstatic, seeking the divine while Modern Western music makes a person seek bodily pleasure. Thus, Traditional Kashmiri music is much more artistic but it requires some preparation of mind and soul to sink deeper. Once, it opens itself to you, trust me you will forever forget Western and Bollywood music.

Cost of rabaab is different according. To manufacturing some cheep rabab cost is probably 12k genuine cost of rabaab is 30k you can bug from islamabad may some different villages of kashmir
