I would put this in my son's room! My parents have been using the same laminate set since they were married in the mid 1970's. They are often as solid as some wood pieces. Thanks for giving it a new life!

Very nice! I just completed a set of laminate nightstands. I live in FL and painted them a beachy coastal blue and did a a faux weathered wood look on top. Posted and sold them in 3 hours. I don’t charge a lot, I do it for fun $. Had 5 people waiting in line to purchase them.

From solid wood to solid particle wood, it is still good furniture and does what it was intended to do. I grew up on these, I’ve flipped some of these to sell or for my own home and they hold up just fine. Thank you for redeeming them and showing us how it can be done. I like that dark blue much more than I thought I would! Can't see it in a living room but it would be appealing in a master bedroom suite on campaign furniture with pale or bleached wood accents.

Great flip - the stained bottom piece really updates the look. I flipped an MCM style laminate dresser - free curb find - for our rec room. Red body with white drawers! Good work as always, Katie. Really like the way you give this furniture new life. Drawer units are useful anywhere in the home. In fact, I was looking at another channel, and the designer used a medium sized dresser painted in a smart colour in her foyer to hold shoes. She opened the bottom drawer, and there were her children’s shoes! Very cool use.

As you said the two pieces are perfect for a male's room. The only thing I would do differently is the color of the handles and the knob. I would choose the same style in a dark bronze to match the wood color of the skirting boards.

I love them! Yes to modern and masculine, but I’d use them in my bedroom too! Navy is one of my favorite colors, but it’s intimidating to paint with. I’m eventually going to paint a cabinet a deep peacock blue and this is good to know to just keep laying the paint and you’ll get there. I also was in love with the original drawer lining paper 😂 that was my youth right there.

You never disappoint. I thought they look like dog bones too, and was so glad when you took those pieces in the front off you prove time and time again if you take your time and do this correctly, you can end up with a decent piece of furniture no it’s not gonna go on an antiques roadshow but it’s certainly usable and if you were a new young family starting out and you need your dressers For the kids they were perfectly fine.

You can also put pieces of toothpicks in holes that are stripped and then just put the screw back in and it will hold tight again! I try and always use a little wood glue too. 😊

Those look great. I love all your tricks and tips. I may get brave and do something with the few laminate pieces my parents had in their house. Those will be my practice but hopefully I will do a good job. Then I might get brave and tackle the real wood Lane chests, bureaus with veneer that's peeling, a drop table, and a really old buffet!

Hi Theresa, I once applied for a job at a retail store I had worked at previously and one of there video questions was "How do you deal with customers in a stressful situation?" My reply was "I find that sarcasm goes a long way". Now every time I apply to any of their stores my application gets kicked back with a reject message! Their loss! 🙂
