This is the main reason I am considering selling my Swardman. I have 2 slopes like this and it's naturally a little difficult to not slide all over the place and a lot more effort to push up. Thank you for posting this!

My yard needs a major leveling and I have a gas swardman and just purchased the Allett battery . The swardman does a better job but is this Evelution a brand new mower..?
@timborski1210 Жыл бұрын
Im buying one of these as soon as i can afford it. i love my Swardman but the wider cutting width and ease of just backlapping is awesome.
@alancolemanjr.794 Жыл бұрын
I'm in the same boat. Bought a used Swardman last off season. Fell in love with the cut but the width and the lack of ability to climb means it takes longer and is more of a work out that this should likely fix. I'll probably keep the Swardman for cartridge duty and a backup incase the new one needs to go into the shop. The relief grind compared to the Swardman spin grind is just icing on the cake.

Hey Ron, two things that I think would really set this mower over the edge: 1. electric start (keep the cord as a backup) and 2. a drum brake lever you can set so when you're climbing like a billygoat, that way you can stop it mid slope and walk away if you need to - I noticed in the video when you stopped the mower to talk it wanted to roll backwards on you and you had to turn it to the side to keep it from rolling away. Two features that would be really nice here (along with a cartridge system, which is why I'm not buying one currently until they get that system set up).
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
I hear you. I don't think they have plans for either of those though. It would raise the price of the mower and not sure how much use people would often get from it. Keep in mind that if you add electric start, you're also adding a motor and battery both of which add weight and complexity.

2 things I've noticed. 1. Does the reel always spin when the motor runs out can you stop it with the motor running. 2. I noticed that it throws a lot of grass on top of itself at the end of your video. Does it come with a deflector shield?
@reelrollers Жыл бұрын
The reel and the ground control and reel are independent. The grass was wet which made it stick to the mower more, but the grass shield is adjustable and the deflector does shoot the grass into the catcher

I have a McClane 26" Reel mower and love it. On the McClane you can turn off the Reel with the engine running by using the handle. I noticed on the Revolution the Reel is turning the moment you start it. If you have a catch bin on the front to catch the clippings you would have to turn off the machine every time to remove the bin. I think this would be a safety issue. I love the rear drum with the rubber on it, but how long is that going to last while making turns on the concrete. I've changed my rear wheels out on my McClane once in the 3 years I've had it. Can the rubber be changed on the Revolution?
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
The production version will have that feature. Reel and drive system separated.
@scottcgrable Жыл бұрын
Will the machine “free roll” down the hill so you can go at your own pace and still have the reel engaged? Or do you have to engage the drive to have it roll?
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
Yes it will.
@MrMadeinthe80s Жыл бұрын
Does the reel spin all the time while the motor is on? Seems kind of dangerous. At least with rotarys the blade is covered up on the bottom. Or is there a way to stop it while the motor is on? And does it always get that much grass on top of itself? My caltrimmer and allett dont do that, but they both have their own issues.

@nehpets2609 Жыл бұрын
So on the mowers we receive the reel is independent?
@reelrollers Жыл бұрын
Correct. The reel and ground control can be used independently .
@rodneybradleyii890 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron - I live In Gwinnett. My slope is three times what you have. Would love to be one of the test guys. I use a Tru-Cut 27. The mower cuts true up and down but the slope causes it to dig just a little on the lower side going side to side. Would love to know if this mower could not do that…
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
You'll want to mow diagonally for best results. Mowing sideways will have a "terracing" effect.
@chrissobczyk5539 Жыл бұрын
I thought the reel would spin separate with its own independent clutch so you can stop the reel when the engine is running. Is that not the case?
@RonHenry Жыл бұрын
It does. The mower I'm using is an older version of the controls. The mower shipping in Jan will have separate controls for propulsion and reel engagement.
