Absolutely beautiful machine. Thank you for sharing.

Excellent video and machine, but I feel there was a missed opportunity for a really solid 'hobgoblin' joke.

Superb. Thank you for sharing. This is really thought provoking! You obviously really understand gear geometry. Good job!

Very nicely done machine! Fascinating! I have never played with making gears so it is all a mystery. Is there a reason you don't take a finishing cut as a climb cut to achieve fine finish? Is there a reason for not using CNC on all axis?

Very nice machine! Welcome to the “I built my own hobbing machine” fellowship! It’s a small, but dedicated group, I think.

I converted a mill, does that count? (I _might_ have been the first to do electronically timed hobbing on KZbin. But probably not)
@thomasstover627210 күн бұрын
@@andypughtube I converted a mill, too. My machine is mechanical, but a hobber is a hobber!

Quick question: if your table is manually moved, not in synch with the spindle and piece rotation, how do you keep a consistent teeth angle ? If you move slower or faster, the teeth angle will be different, right?

This is an awesome machine, which I have zero use for, don’t quite understand, and really want to own.

I presume that him becoming a 'Hob' goblin was the inspiration ror this charming whimsy, despite there being no mention of this obvious pun anywhere I can see. Perhaps my sensitivity was heightened by the fact that I had just consumed a pint of Hobgoblin ale - yes really! In fact, I think I'm going to have another...Oh, and may i say, a very ingenious machine

Great stuff! Now you just need to add power feed, so you can go for a cuppa whilst it is cutting...

In the old days, a differential was used instead of an Arduino to make helical gears. I like the modern fairy approach.
