Regarding the brush cleaning efforts, I found an advice on the internet and I do it like that all the time now. Soak the brushes in some lukewarm water with a little soap/brush cleanser added to it. After 5-10 minutes, collect the brushes and put them in a pillowcase, tie it well and wash them on a delicate no spin cycle. It will change your life, I guarantee it.
