I recently found out that the ending is slightly different in the manga. In the anime, Anthy packs her suitcase and walks out in search of Utena. In the manga, Anthy starts wearing Utena's uniform to show that she can be her own prince. Both are good endings with a positive message but not sure which is my favorite.

That was just the best ending. Utena taught her that she was not a prince to miraculously save her, it was on Himemiya hands to move forward , but she would be waiting "outside" for her once she moved forward. Wow, answering an 8 years old comment, here I go.

Ugh, and the fact that she calls her "Utena" with no suffix or title... -gagging on tears- why must this scene continue to abuse my heart even now. I will never recover, this scene always catches up to me and does it again. What a powerful ending.

This is one of my favorite endings. Everyone overcame their problems and tought Utena was gone from their lives in the school, everyone has dealt with their problems with a positive outcome, overcame their grudges and comfronted their feelings, and pardoned the people around them so they can continue growing. Even if Utena is gone, everyone is starting to move forwards and soon everyone will "graduate". They are no longer stale with their old problems.

Look again the last episode. They end on a very positive note. "I can overcome" with their own stranght, hope n shit

I hope this video stays on for as long as possible, forever even. With Nozomi's re-release of the DVDs, they cut out the end credit sequence with Anthy walking through the fields and the seasons passing, and replaced it with a generic credits scroll. Fewer and fewer people would know of the existence of the original if not for videos like yours and very few others which feature this original sequence. Thanks for uploading and keeping this in existence.
