Hey thanks I appreciate the comment. I see from your title your down her in Florida in the video I said the 1.5lbs anchor is fine and it is but if you are in the Gulf or on the Atlantic side I’d go with at least a 5lbs anchor.

I think it will but wouldn’t go more then 10lbs and make certain the neck of anchor will fit in the tube of the anchor wizard.

It really is nice, absolutely love it. One thing I did learn the hard way was to not release all the rope because it’s not tied to the spool from the manufacturer so I lost the anchor and the rope so I had to re-rig it. I did increase my anchor weight from 3lbs to 5lbs also.

@@j44881thanks for the tip. I’ll be sure not to lose an anchor. I’m a noob so I’m sure I’ll make some other boneheaded mistakes… I’m fishing South Carolina coastal inshore and the Old Town PDL is perfect …just need an anchor system.

How do you break away from this in an emergency?

Great question, I’ve had two occasions when I thought I was going to have to break away. One rather serious being that I was on the ocean in large swells. However I was able to change position and free anchor. To answer your question, you cut the line which implies you have a tool to do that.

Is it better to mount my anchor wizard on the bow or stern? I am mainly fishing rivers, might do some smaller lakes. I usually go up stream so I have the current to help me get back to the car when I'm done fishing/tired. I like to stop at a good looking spot and fish for a few minutes and then move up.

Unless you are fishing in rapid like conditions I’d still mount from the back as in the video which will allow you to reel in against the current improving you control
