I second this. The longer and more in depth the better. Personally brushless is more helpful. My only brushed motor is in a TRX 6 and is only still there because I don't particularly like or drive the truck often. I'll eventually swap it over, primarily to make it faster since that's obviously what the truck was designed for, lol.

A lot of brushless motors use the dimensions of can i.e. 3550, 3565, etc (diameter/ length) I started with aircraft decades ago and some devine force got me into bashing and crawling now that's mostly what I do 😂 When it comes to replacing/ using a brushed motor I only buy HH 😊. The turn to KV chart on your website is super helpful 👍

I remember when I lived in Florida and had a BK or Kontronik ESC with a Lehner Basic 4200 and none of he Hobby shops knew anything about it. I also ran a few absolutely incredible Aveox sensor set up which I still have them all and from there sensor was the way to go. I really miss the RC-Monster forum, there's a lot of things in there that I can point out me asking companies to do something and fast forward a few years later, most are doing it. Imagine if they had listened back than rofl. I still remember a race I went and someone told me a 10S capable ESC I had made was huge and I see some HV ESCs now that dwarfs the ones I had made. Now the question is, will brushed motors go obsolete?

More intricacies about the motors? YES please! What difference does it make to the motor behavior with Y vs D coupling? When do you want one over the other? Also: Kv as a comparative factor says just about as much or little as the number of turns. Kv combined with the torque factor (providing stall torque as a function of voltage) is required for proper comparison!
@HolmesHobbies
@HolmesHobbies 4 ай бұрын
Quick answer, wye vs Delta is not so important unless the motor is designed for delta and wound wye(bad), or if it's in a reversing situation with sensors that are tuned for the other pattern. Arguments for wye only are true, but in practice are rarely enough to make a difference except in bleeding edge cases

Can you explain why the holmes hobby inrunner is dominating comp crawl at crawler canyon rockdale il. Quiet plenty power torque perfect drag brake and realistic slow speeds. My trx4 brushed is a complete zero compared to a holmes hobby inrunner brushless. New to comp crawl. Been bashing and driving rc since mid 80s.

Specific question, I have a SCX6. Why is it's spektrum 1200 kv motor limited to 3 or 4s but a ± 1200kv spektrum motor in a kraton 8s capable? Is it the length? The esc limiting it? My Outcast has a 760kv 12s capable will running it on 8s affect its longevity either positively or negatively? My esc will also take 12s. Edit? Just got to the part about "turns" and length in brushless motors and think that answers my question. Is there a secret to know how much voltage a motor will take or do we just trust the manufacturer? Reason i ask is i put a 4000kv motor and 100 amp esc in my Gorgon. The esc is 3s capable but the motor says 2s only. I tried it on 3s and it ran great. Is it RPM on 3s that'll kill it? Only reason I'm trying is the power is adequate but i want more top speed and i already have the biggest pinion that'll fit. Should i just buy another setup and donate this one to the TRX 6 before i let the smoke out the motor?
@HolmesHobbies
@HolmesHobbies 4 ай бұрын
Probably rotor construction. The 8s capable motor will be designed for high speed. The crawler motor, they probably didn't reinforce the rotor.
