I think this is an interesting conversation. One thing I don't hear is anything about the fact that we are entering a much less deterministic phase of software development and usage. I believe that much of the focus of testers must move to how to measure and test the relevance, effectiveness, and other qualities of AI-driven data interactions that include search, prompts, and agentic behaviors. This is where I think that some of the human decision making in QE will move and it will require usage of AI-supported solutions that are much more advanced and critical than generating the test code that tests deterministic code. There will also be more need and opportunity for solutions that test service to service interactions in increasingly complex distributed systems where AI becomes a key player.

100% agree with this Mike! I had a good conversation around how to test non-deterministic systems a few years back testguild.com/podcast/automation/a351-gojko/

AI can help QA people, that’s okay, but if it will decrease the salary, that’s not quite okay.
