I didn't listen to the whole set, just knocking on heaven's door and it was quite amazing. I was impressed with Axl's voice. He totally deserves the Lifetime award for all of what he has done in the music world and it's so sad to see hate and negativeness here. You don't like him? Don't fucking listen to him.

Isn't it a bit funny to consider the "Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award" for Axl Rose. Sure, Axl was key in one of the greatest rock albums ever (AFD), but guilty of bloating Use Your Illusion and especially Chinese Democracy. All in all, in about 30 years, the studio albums of his career are as follows: - one massively good epic legendary album, - a duo of overextended could-have-been-greats, - the world's most expensive album that fell short of expectations, - one average album of cover songs, - one eight song album, out of which 4 are acoustic, 4 are "live" and 3 are covers. Not to mention he's spent most of that time of not coming up with brilliant albums not touring, but apparently mainly being out of his mind. Yeah, Axl will forever be remembered as the world's most dangerous rock star, amazing voice, brilliant songwriter... For about 5 years or so before lunacy settled in, replacing the musicianship. A rocker not making songs and not touring is no longer a rocker. Sorry for the rant, but looking at what Dio managed to pull of in the last 40 years or so of his career (11 studio albums with Dio, savior of metal pioneer Black Sabbath, pioneering heavy rock with Rainbow, essential in at least two epic legendary albums any way you look at it and thousands upon thousands of gigs played) one wishes Axl had kept his head together for longer. Who knows what headbanging beautiful songs we would have received. Right now it's not a lifetime achievement, it's more like wasted potential award.

Well he had a rough childhood with plenty of abuse so arguably it's a miracle he was as succesful as he was. Undeniably he has an amazing voice very distinctive that's why he's fronted for Queen AC/DC etc. too he didn't stay skinny and pretty which is half the rock n roll image but he sure can sing with a passion.
