I want to scan motorcycle engine block parts with a view to having a good 3D cad file, slice into layers and then print on paper, glue to foam sheet and then cut out to make a foam pattern for lost foam casting. So size needs to be 18 inch square x 10 inch high and get internal and external data. Ill need to add measurements on after in order to square up the positional accuracy of key parts of the scan.

3:49 resize and scalling is not the same thing. If you don't understand the difference having scanned at 0.1mm will preserve some details to 0,2mm just like resizing a 4k video to display on a 1080 p display shows better then rescalling the video to 1080p

Well I would not say that the x1c is a starter printer due to price, but it is an amazing product. If you are brand new, I would definitely recommend you start out with a printer in the $ 350 - 500 range if you are brand new. If you like printing you can get a more costly printer. I am currently feeling like the Creality K1 and the AnkerMake M5C are great starter printers. You should join my discord and check my video descriptions for some affiliate links!! :D

I had Revopoint Pop 2 hated it. Tracking was non forgiving. I now have Range which I love. I also have a CR Ferret, which is more forgiving with tracking, but less detailed than range. I’m considering this one or Pop3. Good information on your video.

Thank you for the kind words! If you still have the POP2 try it again. I originally did not like the POP2 for tracking reasons, but it is better now with better software. The RANGE is still my favorite for sure.

So, what was the dimensional accuracy, you mention it but don't actually show the numbers. First you say it is pushing the envelope of what it can do with the chair, detailing a cumbersome process and showing an unusable result, then say you are blown away by the final result. It comes off as 'I'm sponsored to say this' vibe or the editing is just confusing.
@ThePrintHouse Жыл бұрын
The chair is not an unusable result. The chair was a highly difficult task. I'm blown away by the result. It is a very useable result. Most people don't understand that 3d scanning isn't just point, scan, use data. So much processing goes into a scan before it's a finalized product for whatever use case... Be it 3d printing use as a digital asset in a game, etc. And all of those use cases require different post processing techniques, so I can't do them all. I apologize. I don't have the time for that, specifically because I was not sponsored to make this video. I was provided the scanner free of charge, but no money exchanged hands and there's no reason I would risk the trust of my viewers over getting a free $400 3d scanner, especially when I already have 4 other scanners. I mentioned the dimensional accuracy as 0.2mm which is a hardware limitation. I have no reason to test it in a micro scale. It would be a very difficult test anyway. Based on the grass I 3d scanned, it's very clear it's a 0.2 mm sensor because the model is quite fuzzy and lacks significant detail. Towards the end I mentioned the dimensional accuracy test with the audio meter, and even show it inside fusion 360, yet I didn't say anything negative about my findings, so I assumed it was understood to be within acceptable bounds. I do apologize if that was confusing. Producing a sub 10 minute video with a product that I could talk about for over an hour is very difficult to do. I hope you understand that is the case so to make an 8 minute video requires a lot of time and dedication to the script writing in order to include only the most important details. As a content producer, if I mess that up anywhere along the way, then the viewer will get bored and click away. Since this video was not sponsored, I hope you can understand that this isn't showing the vibe you suggest. As for its confusing nature to you, I do apologize for that. I think you might be over analyzing what I said in the video. The scanner is a great basic and beginner scanner. If you have any other specific questions about it, I am absolutely open arms to accept and answer them in the comments here :)
@fiery_transition Жыл бұрын
@@ThePrintHouse Thanks for the reply. Given you say this is a beginner product, and then you say most people wrongly assume how easy it is to use these things, it would be nice to clarify that part for beginners, who probably won't know that already as you said yourself. Then maybe compare it to other products/methods to exemplify what the baseline is in the market wrt. what to expect of the product. It's hard to understand the praise with a lack of context which can justify the praise, since I'm not an expert in all the scanners which exist. I'm just a hobbyist but have a thorough scientific background in another field, so while I won't expect a deep dive, I also expect some more context for understanding things. I clicked this with the expectation that it wasn't one of the pro tools which cost thousands and thousands of dollars made for people who already have expertise, but that it might offer some value with regards to some of my side projects which are not on the same level. I still think the editing is weird at parts, where you build up with a question and a narrative and just cut and continue without a thorough conclusion/discussion. It's fine you said you measure the dimensional accuracy, but just showing the part in fusion and saying it without having a discussion about the actual results and what they actually mean is just not going to provide much information. Given we live in a time where sponsored videos are an often occurring thing, it's better to be more critical of what you see online, and even if you are honest, then you will still be held more accountable, which we can agree is sad, but that is the state of affairs when it comes to product reviews in general, not just you.
@ThePrintHouse Жыл бұрын
@@fiery_transition thank you for the structured criticism. I will review the video again shortly and try to pick the video apart from a beginners perspective while considering your comments. I will try to figure out where I can improve upon my production quality while covering a wide range of specs in short order. I will say this, some products can't have full depth reviews and a single review is merely a piece of a puzzle and you need to watch 4 or 5 reviews from different people with hopes that everyone tackled the product differently and has different production values. None the less, thank you for your comments I will take them into consideration for future videos!!!

Honestly i got the mini 2, and its no different than the pop 2. Literally, scanning a mini on the pop 2, then on the mini 2, it didnt improve AT ALL. Theyve been selling us the same scanners over and over and weve been buying it. If youre trying to scan anything smaller than a smartphone, expect to spend 20,000 or more because no matter what revopoint says, the mini and mini2 do NOT come anywhere near 0.02. i also own a creality lizard ... Which honestly performs around the same as the pop2, maybe slightly higher accuracy but it also gets more noise picked up.

Great video as I have the same scanner as well as the Mini and Einstar Shining3D scanner. I think Revopoint is pronounced as Ree Voo point but I could be wrong lol. Now onto my own experience with my Inspire from kickstarter. Out of the box it was blurry after scanning on my smart phone via Revo Scan app. I also tried on the pc and still blurry and for some reason I was only getting 14fps on the pc and 10fps on my Xiaomi Pocofone F1 that has 6GB memory. I had bad customer service as I had to go through a lot of hoops just to request a new replacement. In the end Revopoint gave in after I had to invoke my UK law rights as my unit was faulty. Now I'm waiting for my replacement to arrive and the faulty unit will be collected next week. I will let you know if the replacement is fine. Just to let you know that my Mini and Einstar are not blurry so it's definitely the Inspire as other backers who received theirs are having issues too.

For the price of these scanners I'd rather upgrade my iPhone 11 to an iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has a LIDAR 3D camera. Just download one of many apps and start scanning. While the iPhone 15 Pro Max is like $1500-1800, the scanning results I've seen put it on par with 3D scanners in the same price range. So when I decide to drop the cash on a new phone, I'm just going to go that route.
@justinreinsma97722 ай бұрын
Hey dude, not sure if you've already gone ahead and done it, but in my experience even the inspire beat TF out of my ipad pro m1, not sure if it's the same lidar. If you're looking for a more affordable alternative you could probably already just do some photogrammetry and get really detailed models. I've used both meshroom on windows and photocatch on mac, and I was incredibly impressed by the results. Photocatch works amazing right out of the box and will even take video as an input, and meshroom works great but involves some tinkering and good hardware. It depends on your use case of course though, but just thought I'd share my 2 cents.
