@BaneofGods
@BaneofGods 5 күн бұрын
@ It matters because of the cultural significance of the seppuku ritual at that point in japanese history as well as the incredible historic significance of Oda Nobunaga. As they've done it as was mentioned in the video they've essentially had it where it will be seen as Oda Nobunaga, one of the most famous japanese people in their history, having been executed and slain with dishonor by a foreigner who has also been killing many other Japanese people including civilians. If they absolutely *had* to have Yasuke there for some strange reason they should have had him be a witness to it rather than be the second and actually part of the ritual
@BlueBD
@BlueBD 5 күн бұрын
@@BaneofGods According to one of the only mentions of Yasuke we have it was mention that he "Ran Away" before his seppuku and was captured outside. If they wanted to match all they really had todo was give him a reason to well, not be there. which is very easy thing todo when your dealing with Assassin's creed. There are Many Many reasons why player characters could simply not be at a said historical location at any given time. Say he was told to leave by Nobunaga to assist is someone else's escape, and his capture was meant as a distraction to ensure it. They just wanted the drama. which again Is the main reason why you should not play as historical people in assassins creed and why we typically only play as fictional. Because its just easier to Exclude said person from a Historically significant event where they played no part because they don't exist.
@LegulasRS
@LegulasRS 5 күн бұрын
@in this game, yasuke is portrayed as a samurai so him doing it would be still seen as honorable. in real life, yasuke might not have been a samurai but other foreigners have been samurai. Yasuke doing it brings more gravity to his character since he involved in a important part of the story. Would it not be cool as the mc to perform an important ritual as seppuku. Also he is seen as skilled enough since you fight other samurai and guards in the game. you can also choose to not kill civilians if you don't want to in the game.

If there was no named second, it wouldn't really be an issue, but the fact that they replaced a historical one with their fanfiction version of yasuke is immensely insulting to the historical second. Maybe not a big deal to modern westerners who by and large have no respect for their own or anyone else's history even when it's documented, but they should've known better than to do it with the Japanese.

@@Azelarc It is because the staff working on Shadows is overwhelmingly made up of rookies, and they don't know how to actually judge a proper "expert" consultant. The old staff would contact universities and archaeologists in order to get the most accurate version of the setting that they could. The current staff thought that their love of "anime" and East Asian media would somehow mean that they could skip asking actual historical experts. You can see it in their blatant confusion between Chinese and Japanese traditions and architecture, and complete "Hollywood" take on the setting. One glance at their promo concept artwork, and it clearly becomes obvious that an art intern was just handed a stack of reference photos before being told to copy them into the concept art. The problem there is that you can see copyrighted art references and locations all over the place. The simple inclusion of World Heritage Sites that the Japanese government has a zero allowance for commercial reproduction is going to be enough to see the company sued and sanctioned in Japan. It hasn't been that visual in the outcry, so I doubt that they have bothered to remove any of them before launch.

The first decision in that game would have been 'which character to try first', and all you had were several Buffet-cleaners, snot-green alien, the assassin dressed like a blind mage and ostensibly a catgirl that was intentionally furry-fied so she wouldn't accidentally be attractive, and then give them all a nice coat of ammo-case green. Imagine removing Ranmaru Mori, one of the Oda Nobunaga most trusted retainers to rewrite history that instead it was Yosuke who was Nobunaga's most trusted Retainers ... But of course not, who cares about Japanese history, it's all about agendas. It would make so much more sense to make Ranmaru Mori the second playable character and it would actually even fit representing younger man that looked more feminine, since Ranmaru Mori was known to be mistaken for a woman in some cases because of his looks. But you know, those people can't even think for 5 seconds.

In AC Mirage, we can't enter a mosque at all in the game, despite it being exist. It is simple to put some restrictions. Ubisoft had done it before. It just that Ubisoft doesn't have enough care for the Japanese culture, to do a proper research. If they really care, they would know that Chinese and Japanese letters are different. I mean, that was the most basic of the basics when learning about a foreign culture. They even failed at basic things.

I am aware of one, ONE, historical Japanese figure that is disputed or questioned, about being male or female. Uesugi Kenshin / Nagao Kagetora. He was a Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Era) warlord who defeated Oda Nobunaga in their only battle, and because of the oddities surrounding his history, it is questioned on if he was actually a woman being portrayed in artwork as a man. The historical record features campaigns planned around monthly cycles due to stomach cramps, and that he was allowed access to women-only areas, among other evidence. His body was not cremated but due to reverence, the family has not allowed any academic research to inspect the remains. Also that @arnoldbrensen dude is literally a trolling account, if you bothered to look at his account.

Just a light correction: Samurai was about social status and land. "Bushido" was more propaganda than anything. Also there were famous women that had the title of Samurai and some women, even if not samurai, were still trained in the use of Naginata(a type of spear). But "they then" samurai/ronin is unheard off, simply because "non-binary" is a modern american concept. There were some men that used feminine clothes or makeover but they were just considered "feminine men", nothing more.
