Im hoping you can help me. First I do not ride a road carver. I ride a Geezer Glide and I sit in the upright position. I find on long trips the wind load on the helmet tends to gradually push my helmet back. While riding I don't notice it until Im actually looking out of the bottom of my bi-focals because my head is hyperflexed and my head is tipped back. That needs to stop, I get off my bike after a tank full and my neck is shot. I need a collar that supports the back of the helmet so it cannot tip back on me and holds my head in the normal position....Can anyone help me...??? Im finding collars, which will be hot as hell in Florida and Im finding the $600 Hans devices...Ones not enough and the other is way over kill....Help...

Can these be used with the A* or Dainese airbag systems?
@SVFRacing1174 жыл бұрын
I would like to know as well.
@danielreynolds18454 жыл бұрын
No, they won't work with airbag systems. Because these neck braces are rigid, they would interfere with the airbag deploying and probably do more harm than good.
@RevZilla4 жыл бұрын
Coping and pasting from another comment that still answers your question. See below. While there are Street Neck brace options out on the market, these braces highlighted in this video are for Dirt riding only. Careful with your combination of neck brace and airbag system too, as neither are tested with one another in an accident so instead of improving safety you might be making it more dangerous. Just off the top of my head - In the event of the airbag deploying it would need room to expand but your neck brace is designed to fit against your body/jacket. So one would need to give and it would likely be the neck brace given the deployment force of the airbag system. Couldn't really even say what would happen after that but I would imagine it wouldn't be that good. Just food for though. I have a couple questions, im new to mountain biking, I notice that these Braces are advertised as Mountain Bike and Motocross, What is the difference? also i was given a TRD Motocross chest protector, would i be able to use a Leatt Brace? Thank You
@RevZilla3 жыл бұрын
Mountain biking braces are typically made of lighter materials and designed a bit differently since you are doing much more physical movement on a bike versus a motorcycle. As for your armor, mountain biking typically uses an armored shirt rather than more rigid armor, again since you have much more motion going on. This is what I wear when I ride: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-paragon-lite-armored-mtb-shirt I hope that helps! -Zack

Is it possible to wear the leatt chest protector under the jersey while wearing the neck brace?
@RevZilla3 жыл бұрын
Yes, just takes some work to get the neck brace on after the jersey. It will likely stretch out the collar of the jersey but something a large amount of riders will do.

For road biking you should be looking at airbag jackets. They offer far better protection (including the neck). Fortnine did an excellent video on it. They are not used on dirtbikes as you expect offs on dirt and refilling would be impractical.

Which Leatt Neck Brace is good for daily commute riding?
@RevZilla4 жыл бұрын
Daily commuting on the road you would do better with Leatt's road specific neck brace. It is designed to brace a bit better with the arms over the shoulder blades, something you can't do for dirt riding since the shoulders move so much. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. Ride safe, -Pat www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/leatt-stx-road-neck-brace

The whole purpose of a neck brace is to stop the neck shock that occurs in long rides and support spine to neck muscles better, ask any chiropractor, they would endorse them.

How are these for adv riding? Every review and product page is built around motocross but I want one for daily commuting, long road trips and adv trail riding. I'm a big guy, will these fit over my body armor and riding jacket and is there enough room for the collar of my jacket?
@patrickmchugh80392 жыл бұрын
Most of the data on the market for neck braces protecting you are for off-road crashes/riding. You could definitely use it when you get to the dirt roads or gravel areas, but it might be overkill or even dangerous for long tarmac/highway sections because its just something to catch/grab on the pavement and jerk your head if sliding across the road. Off-road and on-road accidents share some similarities but differ on way more fronts so does the protection needed. Personally, I would not wear a neck brace on road fwiw.
@Laksujaakso2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmchugh8039 Why do you think it would be dangerous on road? I figured these would help reduce risks in all circumstances 🤔
@patrickmchugh80392 жыл бұрын
@@Laksujaakso Off-road: the compression of the spine/side to side motion is a big part of the accident, which is what the neck brace is really after protecting. While you will/may also need that on-road, you have to factor in the sliding on the tarmac and having a neck brace that could snag on the pavement or gravel and jerk your head/neck in a different direction would be dangerous IMO. Ideal on-road crash is similar to a MotoGP crash where you look like you are sliding on a waterslide (without tumbling) to a stop. Adding something that could grab/jerk the neck while sliding, or cause you to start tumbling, would be counter intuitive to come to a safe-stop while sliding. Follow your heart though but I'd say if neck braces were proven to help in road-tarmac accidents we would've seen them on road racers. An airbag might be the better option for you - one that is out of the way and smooth but will brace the neck area without using hard-parts.
@Laksujaakso2 жыл бұрын
@@patrickmchugh8039 Fair point there, although I believe the premium Leatt models are designed to come apart in situations like sliding on the road. The problem with an airbag is it'll go off when I go down on the trails and they won't be reusable that quickly. Damn it, now I don't know what to do 😅
@patrickmchugh80392 жыл бұрын
@@Laksujaakso I would just follow what everyone else is doing and just wear your jacket with armor built in or an armor rig with a shell overtop. I wouldn't go and reinvent the wheel since everybody else seems to be protected as is (for the most part). FWIW too, Leatt and the others really only mention/talk about off-road crashes and sales, rarely do they mention on-road. Used to be some more on-road specific braces a few years back, but they were aimed at stunters in parking lots/lower speeds, since they are more similar to off-road crashes.
