She looks adorable, your breakdown while rewigging her reminds me sooo much of when i eye swapped my Marisol, literally traumatizing! To fix her hair id recommend a boil wash, if you want both sides straight it works great, and if you want both sides flipped, after the boil wash while her hair is still wet if you sort of set her up somewhere with her hair flipped as you want, when it dries it should hopefully be flipped (at least it worked when i tried it on Nellie)!

I'm so sorry that was so traumatic for you! I felt the same way when I re-wigged my #24. I had the opposite problem, as her wig was a little too big, but still traumatic. I found a Nellie wig on eBay that was in gorgeous condition (the hair itself), but the wig cap is still almost 20 years old and rather "crunchy". I was so afraid that it was never going to go on right and that all of the gorgeous hair would fall out of the wig cap (it was starting to fall out on one side), but thankfully, after gluing and gluing and gluing some more, I think it's going to be ok. It was totally worth the trauma, though, as she looks amazing in Nellie's wig. And I'm SO GLAD that you kept Josie's hair short! I loved her hair (your original haircut) when I first saw her and this new wig is even more gorgeous! I'm glad you got some advice on how to fix it. I thought it was cute longer on one side than the other, but I know how you feel when you want something to look a certain way and it just doesn't. Looking forward to seeing an update on her. :)

Omg i could imagine how stressful your situation with Nellie was!!! With fixing up dolls to keep them in their original state i feel like there is so so much more stress. I’m very happy I decided to keep her hair short. It’s so her. It’s quite an upgrade from the choppy haircut I did as a kid. My first method of trying to fix her wig was a fail. I’m going to try some more this week! I’m just scared I’m going to ruin the wig

She looks soo good! Her face mold is one of my favorites (I have two Josephina's - long story, unless you want to know - ...and ones name is Josie as well!) and I love yours with the shorter hair. If I can't save my original Josephina's hair (the ends at least) I might chop it a bit now that I've seen someone else do it, haha. And, omLanta, rewigging is the worst the first few times you do it...and I'm too chicken at the moment to actually eye swap (I have the eyes, the doll is already rewigged and everything - faceups are a whole different ballgame...I have no artistic ability whatsoever - but I can't talk myself into doing it yet, 😅) And with the laying issue...maybe wash the hair with warm water and see if you can sort of brush and flip the ends as it's drying and see if that helps? Let us know how it goes!
@nowandforeverag2 жыл бұрын
You should definitely try a hot water dunk on your Josefina! I wish I knew those were a think when I was younger before I cut it. That definitely would have helped. But I do love her with short hair. I want to try an eye swap eventually! Some say I will. When it comes to face paining I can’t do it. Freckles are as creative as I can get. I have a couple great suggestions to try that you all shared to help with the uneven hair. I will let you all know if I fix it!
@EclecticAngel222 жыл бұрын
@@nowandforeverag I have already done that and, since this is the one I got from a family friend, if I can't get the very end not fried looking/feeling, I'll just trim it a little, haha. I notice that your video was posted 7 months ago. I hope you were able to get the look you want! I have a Josefina and her collection. I bought a 28 and rewigged her in a wig similar to what you chose. Some possibilities for future doll rewigging: Place the wig on the doll’s head before gluing it. The side length is most likely off because the wig has a side part. Tacky Glue is a great choice! It is water soluble. You can pull off a wig with dry or wet glue. You can wash off any glue that ends up on hair or anywhere you don’t want it. If you pull off the wig and rinse it off, the original Tacky Glue will rinse out. The other thing I have done when applying a wig to a head with glue all over it is to flip the wig inside out. I place the crown piece at the back crown of the head and gently pull the wig/flip it inside right directly down over the head. You can also put elastics or clips to hold the hair before and during gluing it to the head. It will keep the hair out of the way while dealing with gluing the wig to the head and prevent a bunch of hair from ending up under the wig cap while dealing with the glue. The glue does not dry immediately and the wig can be moved around. And glue that goes anywhere you don’t want it can be washed off.

Your distress was breaking my heart! It shows that these are more than just dolls to us, they're family. Josie looks very cute. Maybe the wig was meant to have more of a side part?
