Rewiring My Fountain 24CS Boat and breaking more things

I have owned 4 boats in the past and the day you brought this home and showed us pics I new this was all coming from working on the boat to working on the trailer and everything in between. And especially for a boat this old that obviously has not been properly given the TLC that these things need.....But it is a new learning process that you seem to be willing to tackle so good for you.

Hey Dan, when you were wiring the stereo it looked like you connected the yellow and orange wire? The yellow is constant 12 Volts (connected to battery for memory, etc.), the orange is usually (dash) illumination and the red is switched power (turns the stereo on). When you flicked the switch, did the stereo actually turn on or just the illumination?

You can find the Wiring standards for boats @ American Boat and Yacht Council…..Fountain is a subscriber to their standards. Best to follow for your safety. A good majority of boat fires start as electrical (USCG/ABYC stats)….
