I wonder if musicians spend magnitudes more time learning and practicing and studying than even doctors. Like, seriously. Doctors study for 8 or so years, and internships and fellowships. But, musicians typically start in their childhoods and go non-stop, "extracurricular", and doing verbal band in school and out of school, buying equipment, performing, most dealing with rejection without pay, learning business and stuff the whole time, and a THEN a lot even goin to school for music after highschool for 2 to 4 maybe even more years. It's a massive skillset what he's showing off here, his entire life, really. But then that raises the question: what other trades or skills have this level of time and effort in them? SURELY other things are like this, too, yeah? And what of those efforts and hours and dollars are really competitive in the skill market? All of this to answer the question on how much are musicians worth. It's messy, it's provocative, and I don't have the time right now to dive into an answer. Gotta get back to working on my own job, lunchtime is over.

Oh dang, I remember December 21, 2012. We made a whole holiday of it on tumblr. It really was a party. The Doctor Who fandom was listening to Toxic. Hussie abandoned us. Kiwis were enthusiastically correcting people that they'd get to die two hours before the Aussies. There was wifi in hell and Satan looked like Mark Pelligrino. EVERYONE was posting Majora's Mask. Na nana na na na na... Everything's gonna be all right.... Love the vibes, extremely nostalgic ✨

Maaaan this brings back memories. I remember some of the songs you guys made back during that time and some of them were just really fun to listen to. I still occasionally watch the OG talent farm recordings that still exist, they really didn’t do the band much justice in capturing that feel of being in person and just watching everyone bounce around and have fun. Also… WHOOOO HORNS ARE BEST. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do for some of the other songs… BRINGING BACK FUNK ON A FRIDAY NIIIIGHT

@@SkaTuneNetwork Legendary location! Op Ivy is one of my all time favorites. I never went when I lived there in the 90s. Too rough for my very nerdy ass. Actually warned away from going by much tougher friends. There were always fights and cops showing up. Wish I'd had the nerve. Can't make that one, but glad to see you coming out west. I'll keep watching.

due to CRIMINAL UNDERUSE of organ by most bands I can't agree it's the most IMPORTANT instrument in ska, BUT organ is the one instrument where including it will ALWAYS improve a song.
@SkaTuneNetwork
@SkaTuneNetwork Жыл бұрын
To counter this point, once you listen to ska that has organ, it makes every ska song without organ sound naked as fuck and incomplete. You can take any other instrument out of ska with exception to bass and drums cause it’s the rhythmic foundation, and it’ll work. But every ska song without organ is severely lacking lol also there’s not many bands that don’t have organ. Even if you’ve never noticed it, almost every ska band has organ in their recordings and you probably just never noticed lol
