Just a tidbit of local info. Rex is one of the biggest most popular Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans. The crown is typically what you’d see on a doubloon you’d catch from the parade.

Would you say this bag plays the same speeds as a Costello? I need a bag to replace my Costellos, needing something that plays consistently in humidity and I love the Snapper fill.

Yes, the speeds are similar to the Costello. These are much better in humidity than the Costello.

I have a full review up on the Dweller. That will probably give you a better idea. Same fast side but the slow sides are different. Dweller is a little fuller. Similar fill mixes.

Mike have you thrown the Moccasin? Trying to decide if these are any different, I know they’re very similar spec wise

I haven't thrown the Moccasins but they have a different slow side material. They use the herringbone carpet. I'm not sure if the fast side is the same as the Rex.

These are much faster than the mocassins. People who have thrown my moccasins have said they are very similar to wizards. I think the mocassins play a tad faster though. I Threw a set of friends wizards at a match the other day and they were slower but we’re older. I believe the wizards get a little more floppy than the mocassins, but not 100%,, mine are about 3 months old but I like how they play. Mikes review on the Rex’s are spot on. My boards are pretty quick and bags will shoot off if I’m not very careful. They are fast i would argue 6.5 to start now a good 6. But the Rex’s are super hole friendly. I’m often shocked at how they whip around and drip back in. I will say the material is a little slippery at first and I wasn’t a huge fan of the feel of the slow side but they have roughed up and gotten a little more dirty and feel good now. Some of the drippiesr bags ive thrown. Sometimes i wish it was more humid here (nor cal) for the sake of these bags. I believe they would be brilliant in humid conditions. Hope that helps.

ETA…just did the board speed test for what it’s worth. Rex’s started moving at 15”… and the mocassins started moving at 19”.

No. These are fuller and not as big as the Viper-R. If you like the feel of the Viper-R, you won't like the feel of these.

Is this bag better for an beginner/intermediary player? I’m currently practicing with the BG Mercenary but I need something a bit easier for a newer player

The bag would be good for any level. I think the way you throw is more important when picking out bags. The Rex are faster than the Mercenaries on the slow side. So if you have having trouble getting the bags to the hole, then you may want to look for a faster bag, like this. But if you are throwing bags off the back of the board, then a faster bag is probably not the best option.
