Tyson, you and Prime are the only Jets channel I follow. You guys are level headed and have very realistic and grounded takes. I’ve been a NYJ fan since 1969. I’ve lived in Los Angeles for the last 30 years and faithfully followed the NYJ. This Rex Ryan circus only compounds the clown show known as the Jets. Woody should sell the team but he won’t. Hopefully, a total rebuild will happen and we fans will get a team that wins. Continued success to you, Prime and the channel. Cheers. 🥃

I say give Rex Ryan that second chance I feel like he earned it we haven't touched or sniffed the playoffs since him, and he's been very vocal that he bleeds green and white and he loves this team, if Aaron Rodgers is not here you have Tyrod Taylor as a bridge quarterback and he worked with Tyrod Taylor in the past to the point that they knocked us out of the playoffs when we was in the hunt with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Todd Bowles

I'm down for Rex as HC. However, it has to be after the GM or Head of Football operations interviews other candidates. He deserves to enter the first round of interviews but that's all he should be guaranteed.

First I would like to say I was originally against Rex coming back. But I seriously thought about it and I hate to admit it, it makes sense. No matter who comes in here or even if we change ownership to any one of the best owners in the NFL the Jets will still be treated as a circus because it’s NY and it’s the media and us as fans get too emotional about everything. Think about it Rex is the best at handling this situation, and any other coach we had before cannot handle when things get hot. I believe Rex knows where he messed up and knows his own strengths and weaknesses. I would give Rex a shot to get the job, but he needs to have everything in place. He needs to come with his team. Who is his OC, QB coach Offensive Line coach. He needs to even know who his ideal GMs would be. It has to be a package deal. This is the perfect time to bring him in and see if he can do that.

@@Vandal1985 I understand that and I’m good with that even if it ends up the way I feel that another coach will want to rebuild everything from scratch. When it comes to the defensive Rex can adapt to it and fix what is missing. As for the offense that’s the key. It has to be a OC that he would respect as well. I believe Rex knows what’s needed and might actually have the right OC in mind

The jets need to interview everyone possible. When it comes to rex, they must ask him 3 main questions. 1. What went wrong when you coached? 2. How will you assemble an elite coaching staff and replace coaches when they leave? 3. How will you fix the qb problem. Thats what the commanders did all off-season and look where it landed them.

The only reason Rex makes sense to me is that the Jets could use the lightning rod to be placed on the sideline and at the podium rather than under center. Maybe you don't need that in Nashville or Phoenix, but you do need it in New York. And say what you want about the Head Foot Fetishist: he's an elite lightning rod.

@@darrellsmith8197 I agree. Not sure if Rex Ryan is that coach for the Jets. But he might be, and it has to be worth a shot at some point here while he still has his faculties, such as they are. If I was made Jets dictator I'd hire Rex together with a good GM who can work well with Rex somehow, and then I'd sit down with both of them to find the best posssible offensive coordinator, preferably one with prior head coaching XP. And if we're drafting a QB that coordinator should also be someone who can develop a rookie QB as much as possible. Maybe even someone who knows the QB we're settling on. Anything to help the rookie ascend as quickly as possible before the barbarians invade. It really isn't as hard as the Jets are making it look. And sure, you could miss on the QB again. But you could also succeed in developng one for the first time since...Joe Namath? I mean, Darnold is looking pretty good now, so clearly there was something there if you had the right coaching. Or maybe that's just time and experience. Hard to tell.

You can either get an average at BEST candidate who’s been there or you can get a candidate with potential to be among the best gms in the league but hasn’t been a gm before. Pick one. Because the guys that have done it before and are good are employed. The only one is maybe John Dorsey from the lions but he has issues. Speakuing of the lions almost every single coach in their staff was a first timer. This idea that the jets can only be fixed by experienced candidates is absurd. And the New York media is not an issue. 20 years ago maybe, this day in age everywhere is just as harsh

After listening to your eval on the needed change of leadership in the Jets front office TR, I think having Rex back as head coach for a second go round is still ideal. But I think he can also be a decent general manager too like Vince Lombardi was in GB back in his day which got him those 5 NFL championships and 2 SBs before his late dad got a SB ring the following year. Plus, hiring Curtis Marttin as President of Football Ops would be sweet! He was my fave RB 2 decades ago and bringing him in along with Rex's brother Rob as his assistant coach will be a tremendous boost to the organization. But what would be a great hire is having Rex/Rob's nephew as their OC. He's on the Lions and we all know how good they are this season in the NFC Central. There's no reason to at all to blow up the current roster nor cutting loose Jeff Ulbricht. What they all need is a morale boost in their team identity and RR is the right guy to give them that needed confidence boost. What is more important for the Jets than drafting a QB in the first round is establishing a "familial bond" within the organization similar to how the Yankees or the Lakers or the Steelers do when they run their teams that resulted in multiple world championships. This is something Woody needs to get in his head and understand that this current situation is an opportunity for him to make amends with himself and with everything and everybody he has been unfair to who love the Jets long before he slapped his billions on the Commish's table to buy them in 2000.

I say interview all candidates for the Jets HC job, but the Jets can't afford to hire another statue of a coach on the sideline, now living in the Detroit area all of my life, and have watched the Lion for years just like the Jets do nothing for decades until the Lions hired a competent HC in Jim Caldwell and the lions were a playoff team under Caldwell his last year the Lions were 9-7, and they fired him, only because they knew that Matt Patricia was available and he ruin the Lions, until Dan Campbell brought the Rex Ryan passion and energy to the Lions and the rest is history, just my take on it Tyson, and as usual go Jets from Detroit.

Is this really a complete rebuild, tho? Even if DJ Reed leaves (and I think he will) you still have quality building blocks at a number of important positions on both sides of the ball. Or course they'll need a rookie QB to replace the Green Bay Hall of Famer, just as they did in '09, but I see more similarities than differences in the '09 and '25 situations. The oline was complete back then but you could also say the skill positions are better now.

@LetsTalkJetsRadio I'm sure there are plenty of rebuilds that would like to start with two fantastic young edge rushers, a quality CB1 (we're assuming the coaching would help here), a fantastic WR1, two qualify running backs, and a stud off-ball LB. And it's not as tho there isn't highly drafted talent to work with on the oline either. Not a complete restart there.

Here is two thoughts in my mind. Is Rex a coach right now? I don’t know.. I might be interested in Rex Ryan as a VP of Football Operations. On one condition. This is the pitch Rex can make to me and sell me. If Rex says I’m a head coach, but I am bringing in Aaron Glenn to this team as DC. When I step aside we are grooming Aaron Glenn as a long term coach to take over for the next ten years after I’m gone. That type of concerted effort by Rex combined with another top candidate MIGHT actually work. Just floating it out there for all to see and agree/disagree. Also Rex isn’t my #1, but I would be lying to say I wouldn’t be sentimental about his return. My big rule here is that I don’t want Gruden. Why spend 10 million for a guy whose offense can’t get outside receivers the rock? He is a TE master, but we don’t got that on this team anyway. No Brock Bowers, no Gruden. My takes are red hot. Take it baby 🔥

I liked rex, he was fun, and i know he loves the team, it is kind of like belicik with the giants. But he also was like saleh in that he focused on the defense, left that to whoever, and we cant have that again. Ppl forget he also had accountability issues, players played hard for him but the jets were known for stupid mistakes, they were heavily penalized. I remember rex on the sideline being not all that much different than saleh, player would get a dumb penalty and rex wouldnt do anything. He has acknowledged those kinds of things and could be different. That said as tyson said the big issue is the gm. You cant just hire rex as coach then hire a gm, it wont work, idzik spent two years trying to get rex fired ( can you imagine who idzik would hire? He prob would have hired gase before miami did). If rumors are true and woody goes with an internal hire like savage i dont think it would work, but any gm would ne a problem. Now here’s why I say Flores; 1) unjustly fired by Miami and gets to stick it to them twice a year 2) has been around good coaches, including Mike Tomlin, completely turned around a terrible Vikings D 3) is a hardass, which this team needs 4) is a local guy, Brooklyn I believe, and would understand the Jet fan mentality and the media, a huge part of coaching here Sadly, I think the NFL owners will black ball him due to his lawsuit, and I doubt Woody would buck the other owners What they WILL do? Hire a first time GM and HC and in 4 years we will be talking about this again. It’s the endless cycle of hamster turds..😢

Tyron smith, Morgan Moses, Tyron for a solid back up, Mike Williams people liked. Revamped O line and every one thought a solid 2 in Mike Williams. Do you research or just say the 1st thing that comes to your mind? When you have a shit coach, it doesn’t matter who’s on the team and the jets were given every superstar to help the team.

I don't think so tbh. Mangini was only coach for 3 years and only made the playoffs the first year with the team that Herm Edwards put together! I remember Rex bringing in a lot of players from Baltimore right off the bat. So that's really not true. Mangini really didn't really put together a team for Rex. Remember Rex brought in Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Jim Leonart, Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, Braylen Edwards, Marc Sanchez, Ladainiam Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, and Damien Woody within the first year. Some of the best jets were around before Mangini too like Shawn Ellis and Jericho Cotchery, Brandon Moore, Byron Thomas. You can give credit to Mangini for DBrickashaw ,Nick Mangold, Leon Washington, and Brad Smith as they were drafted right as he became the coach so maybe he helped them develop but Rex got rid of Leon. I guess you can give Mangini credit for Revis and Dustin Keller but they only played a year or two with Mangini during loosing seasons. Basically the majority of the team was either there already before Mangini or were added by Rex after Rex took over. Rex changed a lot of players right of the bat. I can really only think of 5 players that were good from Mangini and I don't even think he deserves any credit for them. You got Revis, DBrickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold, Dustin Keller, and Brad Smith.

@AllShaaaallPerish Yeah rex brought all the defensive players in but i'm talking about the offensive players he brought in ... plus mangini went 10-6 and 9-7 and at one point 8-3 when brett favre was healthy ... he had 2 winning seasons of his 3 season here You really can't dispute that

@kapo2012fb Ladainiam Tomlinson, Shonn Greene, Santonio Holmes, Braylen Edwards, Sanchez those are are huge offensive players brought in Rex first year. Mangini had Brett Farve lol I can't think of any good Offensive ppl he brought in tbh except the two O line franchise players. Mangini was a defensive coach as well. I forgot I guess he missed playoffs with a winning season so you are correct there!
