@@Legotrademark First off, a significant quantity of Star Wars fans don't like him. His lines in Attack of the Clones in particular are terrible, so he comes off as a whiney prick. However, I really like him as a character, and I can explain why: I can empathize with him. He's a very human character, with serious flaws and strong emotions that drive his character development and decision making. In short, he has buckets of character: admittedly, he's an ill-adjusted, angsty character, but his story gives him reason to be that way, and the moments of genuine joy he experiences (usually whilst flamboyantly flying a vehicle of some kind) are made all the more valuable. His over-the-top style also makes him *fun* to have on screen: even in life-or-death duels he's still showing off, and that's in-character (thanks to the whole Chosen One thing). Contrast that against Rey, who's completely characterless. All I remember from the whole sequel series is her constantly "struggling." She's just thrown about into situations she has no control over, but never seems to really mind? She just... Does the Right Thing™. And without going into too much detail, what the hell is up with her and her skillset? I'm supposed to believe that someone who works in a scrapyard has lightsabre skills to rival that of the greatest masters of the republic? Where did she learn to fly better than First Order pilots? Why does she even care about Kylo or the First Order? These are all questions that are never properly answered.

@@opossums-will-sing Not to mention she learns about the force 3 hours before pulling off her first mind trick and 4 hours before defeating a trained force user with a particular affinity for saber combat. Then on day 3 of learning what the force is she lifts several tons of mountain to rescue her friends. This all happens after she matches said trained force user in her strength in the force breaking the most iconic weapon of the franchise in two and then proceeding to triple kill 3 tie fighter with one shot of the Falcon’s cannon. Anakin’s power level actually makes sense, having a biological advantage over his peers and a strong emotional attachment to his mother. This gives him moments of rage induced power ups that are consistent with how the force has worked since episode 4. He’s also trained prolifically by several masters to polish his saber combat due to his status as the chosen one as well as being the direct apprentice to one of the greatest swordsman of Jedi history. He’s constantly shown how his shortcomings directly hinder his combat ability and his consequences for such flaws are great and lasting. The prequels aren’t good movies, the best being revenge of the sith which I would consider average at best. But they have a substantially stronger plot then that of the sequels and most of the events of the story culminates in the final film. The scaling of the characters is also rather well done when it comes to power and intellect. Things happen and they have explanations that aren’t contradictory. Not to say there aren’t many outliers but they don’t damage it to the degree as (random example) the Holdo maneuver does. Which is the single greatest negative event to the continuity in the entire franchise.
