Bro you gonna run a business you need to have inventory. Spend the money upfront to keep this from happening. You're wasting most of your profits shipping material that you should have stocked. You should've already had 100 sheets and when it gets down to 20 order another 100. Keep money set aside that is only for product not bills or food or anything else. It's the only way to run a profitable business

@Don Mega Then he entered the business without a proper business plan factoring growth. Any sane business person would have an excel spreadsheet of inventory so he doesn't have to spend 10 - 20 minutes each time searching his inventory. Buy specific common colors in serious bulk then odd colors / patterns up-charged. To encourage use of common colors increase base price then discount when using the commons which is a slight manipulation of consumer psychology. As to the odd colors have it up charged the same percentage the commons went down. Assuming it's 5% down on commons you'd do 5% up from base price so now you have a 10% spread to help nudge them where you want them.

@Cerberus9846 жыл бұрын
@Spawn 1210 I've only went to college for welding so my knowledge is based off watching relatives getting suckered when things go on "sale." When in reality they marked it up weeks or days before and "discounted" it so people become manipulated saying in their head, "It would be stupid if I didn't buy it now, just look at the percentage it's been discounted!" Where I experience personally it is going to harbor freight "sales" that I've seen non-sales period of the same exact product actually be cheaper than the "sale price." Ironically enough, JC Penny has plummeted in total sales volume as they ending sales switching to rock bottom prices all the time people not manipulated anymore. There's a CBC video title'd "Retail tricks: How stores make you spend more (CBC Marketplace)" It's mainly grocery store psychological manipulation with a smidget of Ikea's methodology of getting people lost on purpose.

Great and honest video! Keep it up. If I may say 1 thing.. Pleaaaase, Get someone to do your administration and message handling, it costs you too much time. You can not say that you "don't have the money" for it, because you are doing it yourself (you basically hire yourself). See, if you make 100 per hour (easy random number to do the math) and you have to do it all yourself, you are wasting time with the administration and message handling. Just pay someone 20 per hour to do all the administration and message handling. Now you can spend that time on doing what you do best and, BOOM, you've increased your productivity. If you have to do the work yourself, never consider not having the money to hire someone. Doing the work yourself is like PAYING A LOT (understand your value) for administration and message handling (and collecting the money), because it needs to be done and it is being done BY YOU. Run the business, do not let the business run you.

It is easy to be an armchair qb, especially when I am not *currently* running my own business. I am currently sorting out a plan, though. One area that seems to be a huge drain on you from what I saw in the video, is how much calculating you do on paper. I would recommend setting up a spreadsheet that includes a list of supplies and cost on one tab, and an invoice template that allows you to select the item, set order specifics (size, number of colors, type of material, etc, YOUR TIME, etc.) to quickly get a trackable workflow going.

I run a painting contracting business and certain items I stay stocked up on. Your case I would estimate your most common materials used in a months time and purchase a bulk order. It may seem like a lot of money, but in the long run you will notice saved time not constantly ordering and a higher profit margin from not having to pay that extra shipping. Also try to establish accounts from manufacturing companies, buy direct if it allows. Good luck Reyes you're definitely on the right track.

Did you ever find like, a local craft or hobby store that sells vinyl? Seems like it’s be something to try to look out for if you have a business. Even if you have to drive out of town for it, it’s much faster (and probably cheaper depending on how far,) than waiting for a delivery. Of course if it’s over a two hour drive or something, that’s a lot of time spent on just one order, but unless you live in the middle of nowhere, there’s gotta be a close by store that sells one, right?

Boyan Silyavski where's the best way to learn something like this ? Officially ??
@BoyanSilyavski6 жыл бұрын
mr logick I have spent 300$ and checked extensively all paper minus the laser ones. And i mean all. And i mean 10-15 test at leats. All by the letter of the paper manuals. Not a single one , again, NOT A SINGLE ONE IS GOOD FOR COMERCIAL USE. With the exception of Forever-subli light-no-cut, which stood the wash test, not 100 % but 80% ok for simple designs. And before anyone jumps here, i have 3k $ heat press, expensive laser thermometer, spectrocolorimeter, pro photography setup including the screen on my PC. So i am a maniak. Oh, yeah, i have a retail T shirt shop... To me the way is from down upwards, vinyl cutter, Epson A3+ sublimation printer, calibration of the sublimation, ready screen printed heat transfers, FIND CLIENTS, grow business , learn screen printing or buy T shirt printer. And NO to solvent printers, i bought all possible vynils but with the exception of 2 of them all were not good for retail. Only the thinnest Siser and one another were good but impossible to peel properly on details and needed special backing, so good only for whole designs. Have not tested the lasers, and by testing i mean wash them at least 10-15 times. I have seen them in person, they are nice. Thats what i know till now. If you want to evolve a business, dont go this way. people who have money and pay money will not be happy. And you want them for clients.

You lied to the customer about your red vinyl going bad.

Nah, I told him the truth when he got there. He was cool with it. But did you like the video? :)
@GoodGoodergoodgooder6 жыл бұрын
I did yes thanks. Quick question... Have you made a video on pros and cons of screen printing vs digital printing? Do you offer digital printing? If so when do you use digital and when do you use screen printing? Cheers from England :)

@@ReyesTheEntrepreneur never lie to your customers. I would have drove to a craft store to save time. Sacrafice time at the gym or stay up late completing the orders since you didn't have it in stock, but never lie.

I stock basics & popular materials to avoid most of these issues. The vinyl I stock large rolls of commonly used and smaller rolls of the other colors since decal vinyl isn't too expensive to stock.I only ever had to rush ship materials for an order once.

I just inherited an entire screen printing business from my grandfather. Only problem is a lot of his materials are older and worn but I got a lot of equipment and a building in the process. I’d love to see more in depth vids of your printing techniques. I just discovered your channel so maybe you have some. But I def subbed. Awesome channel!

Nice video bro, I'm on a screen printing business myself in SEA, work is tough especially when you are on your own, production/administration/financial dept etc... lol. But it feels great, to all aspiring entrepreneur out there, just do it and see, trust me!, the 1st year might feel okay, 2nd year more challenges, 3rd year you might feel giving up, but be positive like our bro right here, and soon without you realizing it, you now have a good paying job and whats more important is, it is a job that you've created for yourself, by yourself.. your own rule baby, cheers!

Yea Reyes, that's a bummer when something like that happens, bro. If something like that happens with me, I just call up a local t-shirt printing company and pay them to fill that particular order. In most cases I still make a little profit. Most importantly, I still get to take care of the customer, and they won't even know that anything went wrong. Yo man. I love what you do. Great channel :-)
