I prefer the fully metallic look of the old meta Ridley but the matte black of the remastered phazon suit is sick as fuck

huh.. In prime, meta ridley has no flesh on his head.. But in Prime Remaster, he does. A small design change that is pretty neat

@@lots_of_biskits7536 I think it is. If you look closely he looks closer to the "cyborg" Ridley in the Metroid 2 remake. Which this game takes place after. I think it was done to keep things consistent canon wise between the newer games/remakes. Not that the canon about Ridley ever made any sense regarding how many times he is killed and brought back to life over and over. He literally goes from living, to cyborg, to phazon enhanced cyborg, back to a non cyborg, then a reanimated corpse caused by the x-parasite, and then a clone. That's too many convenient ressurections if you wanna look too deep into these games.

@@Miguel92398 oh actually I think you're right because the Metroids still exist in prime. For some reason I thought it was between 2 and super. Either order works for why you see more purple bits in this meta Ridley redesign to look more in line with his appearance in the Metroid 2 remake.

@@MrIndiemusic101 actually. That's literally the canon timeline. Prime took place between 1 and 2. Ridley in Samus Returns almost looks organic while Meta Ridley in Prime is mostly mechanical. Also, her gunship in Prime is different than in Metroid 2/Samus Returns, which is the iconic gunship that later appeared in Super Metroid and was destroyed in Fusion. Metroid Timeline: 1/Zero Mission -> Prime series -> 2/Samus Returns -> Super Metroid -> Fusion -> Dread

Did they change Meta Ridley to not be fully clad in black armor and make him look like his Smash bros self? Or was he always not fully covered in armor?

It was changed, probably as you said because of smash.

no, him looking like that was always the way he was meant to look in the original concept art. It's just that his original model is incredibly shiny but if you get a good look at him it's the same design.

To everyone crying over the level of bloom going on, are you even old enough to remember what it was like in the early-mid 2000's? Srsly, the level of bloom here is fine. Overall the remake looks fantastic, and I hope this means only good things for Metroid 4 development.

@@paul-nj1ig when game engines first started implementing bloom. Some games were so bad with it you were better off disabling it entirely.

Not a big fan of the bloom or shading on some of the character models (why does Ridley look so dark even though he’s clearly flying in daytime) and areas overall but it’s a solid remaster I suppose
