+michael Grimm Ah Grimm you sound so grim. Yazdani can wrestle with two american boy scots at the same time and still win. People at these highest levels of sport get injured all the time in all sports. The refs have always the power to show the yellow card to any time waster and so long as I know Yazdani has never even been cautioned. You are a beginner in the world of wrestling, like 2000 years a beginner, what the hell do you know about it?

I'm a Yazdani fan, but why hate on Varner for earning gold? He beat every guy he faced along the way and, at the end of the tournament, was the only guy at 96 kilos without a loss. To me, he EARNED that medal, unlike Slay in 2000. That said, I don't think Jake's among the top three at 96 kilos this year, but for a slew of reasons, from injury to flat out underperformance, none of those other guys beat Varner. It's time to get over it. Varner won Olympic gold and that will never change.

I was surprised to see Varner win gold, but good for him anyway. I thought Jake Herbert would medal, but he was on the tough side to the bracket. I also thought Simmons is and was better than Haze and had a better chance to medal. Varner is so defensive, I wish he would open up more because it seems like he can score when he opens up. He is and always will be an olympic champ now and to the end of time, its the books so to speak.

@spoonce12 жыл бұрын
guess what, the fact is that yazdani did get hurt and varner did place first at the most important tournament of every 4 years. the odds are very good that yazdani would have beaten varner, but there's always a small chance varner would have had the match of a lifetime and still win. how many people picked azgarov over kudukhov before the tournament? please tell me that. yet give credit where it's due, both of them won

Guess what genius only 1 wrestler from a country can enter hence why saidov, muradov or akhmedov weren't in it otherwise they would've beat varner, saidov and akhmedov already have, and no they would be more deserving than varner, had varner been in the bottom bracket he wouldn't have made the bronze medal match.

you mean like Jordan Burroughs defreating an Iranian wrestler in 2011 and 2012 for a world championship and olympic gold? There's no need to compare the two countries based on a sport any ways. If you want to do that, but 24 Iranians in football (american football) pads and have them play an NFL team in that sport. Shit, have them play a really good high school team and they would get their asses handed to them. See how dumb that sounds though? You probably never wrestled anyways...
@Lions432212 жыл бұрын
If you knew shit about Iran, you would know that Iran ain`t no North-Korea. He would probably go back where he was before this olympics. And really, no need to act as Mr.Obvious, we all know Varner won it. I won`t discuss if he should have won it. The End, go to sleep now.
