Actually, not a lot of Americans (the dad's AND the mom's) react like this unless they really really love each other. Usually they say that they're not ready, that they don't want the baby, kick the woman out, force their significant other to abort the baby, the mom's sometimes abort the baby without discussing it with their significant other just because they don't want anything to do with it. Americans are beyond selfish and a whole lot of other things. This is coming from someone who's lived here for 20+ years and has seen countless pregnancies, relationships, and marriages.
