Depends on what your comfort level is. I'm really liking the RF 28mm 2.8 it's an autofocus pancake lens that I've been using as daily a long side the Ttartisans 25mm F2 but that's a small manual lens. I made videos on both lenses if you need reference. At the moment my zoom lenses are the RF 24-105 F4 & EF 16-35 2.8

That depends, if it's for vlogging 16mm is the way to go but it's not image stabilized. If you're filming others I like the 35mm. I'm hoping Canon comes out with a vlogging lens soon like a 10-18mm like they did for the EF-S

Good information. I have a question how big difference is between R6 Mark2 and R7 for low light photography? Can i manage with R7 in Wedding the scene without flash, and just with the available light indoor. Assuming i have 24-105 F4.
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
Weddings have tons of variables take a flash and save the headaches. R7 is ok in lowlight, but the R6II handles it better from experience. 24-105 is great if you have tons of light, but grab a flash & a few primes. Could be doable, but tough.

Also I have been hearing a lot that canon r7 misses the focus or gets soft pictures with rf 35mm f1.8.. what has been your experience with this combo
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking because it's a macro lens the focus pull can be slow I noticed this on both my R6ii & R7. To compensate for it, I try to shoot in bright situations or expose a little brighter if it's dark. The focus does annoy me in darker situations but I try to plan ahead. In terms of softness I only shoot at 1.8 if I'm doing portraits with one subject in the middle of the frame. 1.8-2.0 can be soft in certain lighting situations but once you hit 2.2+ its gravy. They are some quirks but I don't see myself retiring this lens anytime soon. Sorry it took me a while to reply I had to look back into my archives to compare photos and give you an honest opinion. I might go out and shoot again to see if I noticed these call outs.

Would you recommend it ,even if I own the 18 to 150 kit lens. Is it bigger? What about the rf16mm f2.8 ,rf24mm f1.8 ,rf50mm f1.8
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
That's actually a great question, my only issue with the 18-150 kit lens it's a variable aperture lens. So when you zoom in the aperture it gets narrower at every stop till you hit 70-150 then it stays at F6.3 as the fastest aperture. At 35mm on the kit lens the fastest aperture is @ F5. Normally, I shoot around F2-F4 on the 35mm. When the kit lens is closed the 35mm lens is slightly shorter, but it's wider since it also fits full frame bodies. The 35 is a smidge heavier. The reason why I like primes in general it challenges me to move around to get the right shot and I can get a faster aperture compared to the zoom lens at that price. RF16: I like it, but mostly use it indoors or vlog type shots. It doesn't have IS tho RF24: it's personal preference. I like the focal length on the 35 better, but others love it. RF50: probably the best bang for your buck, I got a refurbished one from canon for $80. It's great for outdoors or if you are in a big area. It's really tough to use in tight areas. Also no IS, but for $80 can't complain lol Between all the prime focal lengths 35 & 50 are my favorite in general If you have the money I recommend the 35mm, if you have a tighter budget the 50mm is the way to go. The kit lens is great for vlogging or everyday use, but that's just my opinion. It was long winded, but I hope that helps.

@@DavidKabra General lifestyle, family photos, documenting my kid's life/growing up... As well as travelling. Love taking photos of city, buildings, bridges, etc. Will the 35mm still be a good choice? With it being cropped, the 35 will feel and look like a 50-55. Do you think thats okay?
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
@@andersonvictoria5185 you'll be closer to 56 cuz of Canon but tbh my favorite full frame focal lengths are 35mm & 50mm. Personally the 35mm on apsc is my go to. If you're outdoors I don't mind the crop. I posted a few examples in the video. If you think that's too tight then you can always go with a 24mm that'll push you closer to 35mm on your R50, but I don't have experience with the RF lens. Which is good R7-R8 camera for hybrid use and potrait and sport photography
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
Both are good cameras. I made a video called "turn your R7 into an R8" made a quick comparison. I prefer the R7 because of the features. In general both are good for photo/video. If you are leaning more towards portraits R8 is the way to go. If you're doing more sports R7. Video wise R8 is better in low light and shares the same sensor as the R6ii but lacks dual slot memory and has smaller battery life. R7 has ibis, dual slot, better battery but it's a crop sensor camera. In the end whichever you lean the most will guide you to the right camera. My R7 is my everyday work camera and it's why I choose it.

Thank you for the love! The R7 has 32.5 Megapixels so you can easily print up to 16"x20" and even then you can probably push it further. For vlogging it's one my fav cameras specially with the kit lens at 18mm or a 16mm prime. The R7 also doesn't have a recording limit so it's great if you record over 30mins I don't use Nikon on my end, so I'm not sure about their video specs. For video I lean on Sony or Canon. For pictures Nikon is amazing.

Are you still of the same opinion that the IBIS wobble is fine in R7 ?
@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the focal length, anything past 35mm full frame equivalent ibis does the job pretty well. 28mm is cutting it close. Anything wider than 24mm FF equivalent you start to see wobbles. I'm actually doing a vlog test this week for the RF 16mm on the R7.

@DavidKabra Жыл бұрын
Really depends since that's preference. If you have a kit lens I would spend a day or two walking around practicing each focal length. By the end review your photos and see what focal length you used the most. At the moment the 28mm sits on my R7 a good chunk of the time. It feels natural and I can frame my photo before I even raise my camera. I made a review on the 28mm if you wanna peek. I like it because of the field of view I get and the size is tiny. Once again I can't give you a specific answer since it's a personal preference, but can give a tip or two to guide.
