I can see why they need to establish some guidelines for independents or you'd have hundreds of them on the ballot and elections would be terribly unwieldy. But Republicans and Democrats in state legislatures have tried to make it nearly impossible to challenge the duopoly.

I’m a first time voter this year and although I lean towards voting Trump, I might end up voting for RFK Jr. He gives me serious Ross Perot vibes, a guy I think the US missed out on not voting for as president. Great ideas and plans, coherent, an enemy of the two party system and establishment. He’s similar to Perot in social issues. Although I disagree with them on abortion and guns. Not too much though. So does Trump though who was close friends with Perot and was apart of Perot’s reform party for years and has similar stances to Perot in trade as well as being hated by the establishment.
