Nath sect is not limited to Gorakhpur but from Kathmandu ( Machendra Nath jatra is most sacred festival not just among Hindu but Buddhist too) , from Assam to BALOCHISTAN Nath sect is very respectful ( they have seen almost every family of at least East Indian ). We used to call them Gudaria as they collected old clothes and playing sharangi . They are hathyogis … believe in extreme form of yogic practices.

Goa used to be a center of Nath sect too- Mudgao मठग्राम (Maṭhagrāma) which means "a village of monasteries" owing to the shrines of Matsyendranath and Gorakhnath. Margao in pre-Portuguese times was one of the important settlements in Salcete and known as Matha Grama (the village of Mathas) as it was a temple town with nine Mathas in temple schools. Its replacement in 1579 was destroyed by raiders. The present church was built in 1675.
