This video and the "match Color of Two Areas in Lightroom Classic" are the most insightful videos into the practical use of colours in Lightroom that I have seen on KZbin. Your style of describing the topic is well done and easy to understand. Great channel, keep up the good work.

Hi Ben: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. I really enjoy these 'in-depth' videos so keep them coming. Your presentation really allowed me to have a deeper appreciation for the RBG and Luminance values of an image. I have also used Capture One Pro and this concept is very front & centre as you reviewing images. I am so glad I can now see this in LR. Now, if LR could only show you exactly where your focus point is similar to what can be displayed in Nikon's NX Viewer. Keep well. Cheers, Keith

This tutorial was the perfect level for me. I have been using Lr pretty heavily for several years but you cleared up several mysteries for me, like how to determine if there is color cast in scenes with mixed lighting - and how to go about correcting it. Your speaking /presentation speed was at the 4ight Goldilocks level for me, as well. Thanks so much. I would like to hear you explain how to manipulate the microtones in b&w images to get them to “pop”.

A-m-a-z-i-n-g tutorial Ben again, you are a great, great teacher! As somebody says It would be nice if you could share your JPG image with the color gradients for this lesson/explanation, but nevertheless It is exellent without it. It would be nice to go further with this technical details, because no one goes so deep into this issues as you did. Some comments shows that you have more space to go further in some detailed explanation of different situations and examples which could be tricky or confusing. Tutorial about skin issues would be nice too, we know some relationship standards between R-G-B in postprocessing skin but I would like to watch your lesson about that and including LAB color values too. I am deeply impressed by your attitude and way of teaching things in Ps and Lr.

As always, you provide a wonderfully clear technical explanation of your topic. In this case, it might have been interesting to touch on why/whether one should white balance. Doing so eliminates color effects that are real and would have affected one's perceptions at the time. Would one white balance a photo intentionally taken during the blue hour to eliminate the blue?

Yes, like more in depth tutorials - this one was super!! I am just a little confused on howto adjust white balance in a photo that have white areas that are slightly lit in some way. Either by a warm light source or the cold sky for instance, or both. Which white part to choose as a reference? In these cases it makes more sense to look at the image instead of the numbers whilst adjusting white balance. Or?

This is great the only thing Lightroom is lacking is how to deal with skin, I can get the brightness through lab colors but I still use omniscope to get perfect skin, I've search on the internet about the best lab values for skin values for both asian and caucassian and black but still not see any useful tips. But this give me a better understanding on the LAB values. Thank you.

@Brockdorf Жыл бұрын
I am using Lightroom 6.4, is there a way to get an average RGB of a face. When you create a mask Lightroom can automatically select all the facial skin, but I don't see how to get the histogram of the data?
@francescoricci395610 ай бұрын
Just a little correction: at the end of the video you say that if you open the image in Ps the numbers don't match cause of the different color space, "unless you open the image in Prophoto RGB, then they will match." This is wrong because the RGB numbers in Lightroom are in percentage from 0 to 100 %. In Photoshop whatever the color space, the numbers are from 0 to 255. Within Camera Raw this is different because the RGB numbers already match exactly to the Color Space you set for the Output, and they are from 0 to 255 exactly like in Photoshop.

Unfortunately I had to let go of my Masters academy subscription a while back, and you soon forget without your guidance how valuable it is, so I'll be back as soon as I can. What a great Video though this one is.. Just one question though how do you keep your white balance pointer out once you click on a point.?
@DigitalMastery2 жыл бұрын
There is an option in the lower left of your screen to keep it visible. Just turn off the Auto Dismiss checkbox.

ACR has a color picker that places these values from multiple image locations on a toolbar. But can't find this in LR. Is this hidden somewhere?
@ZOly622 жыл бұрын
You don`t have that possibilities in Lr. You can get RGB value just from one location at the time.

Any advice on getting great skin tones using these numbers, from readings on the skin?
@DigitalMastery2 жыл бұрын
Keep reference images where you know you like the skin tones and then pay attention to the A and B numbers in LAB when applying adjustments to other images (you can use reference view to compare two shots). How far higher is one than the other of those numbers for tan skin vs pale skin, etc. The issue with skin is when you try to make a pale person tan... you have to make sure the dark areas of the skin don't become too colorful. I don't shoot people much, otherwise I'd do a video on it. If I had a lot of people shots (other than yoga ones where my wife's face is not usually prominent in the shot), then I could do a bunch about skin.
