FYI, This "secret" behind the button colors did NOT just recently flare-up over night... the theory about the different colored buttons was brought up many months ago when we got the first announcement and trailer for TTYD. In other words, all of this fuss and speculation is far from being new news.

In consumer marketing, 4K is 4x the resolution of HD. HD = 1920 x 1080 = 2,073,600 pixels. "4K" UHD = 3840x2160 = 8,294,400 pixels. 8,294,400 / 2,073,600 = 4. This is where the 4 in 4K comes from. You would think this translates to 2K in the same way but it doesn't. The 'accepted' 2K resolution (also called QHD) is 2160x1440 = 3,110,400 pixels. 3,110,400 / 2,073,600 is 1.5, not 2 as you would think. 4K is 4 times the resolution of HD but 2K is only 1.5 times the resolution of HD 1920x1080. Of course, 720p is also considered HD! when we were all going form 480p, 720p was HD but 1080p was Full HD. So 4K is More Fuller HD!

Guessing in development a lot of these are upscaled on a system or visual engine that can handle 4k. But the public hardware doesn't have that so they have fun with it in development and we get something the Switch can handle. I'd guess the Super Switch ideally would have 4k capabilities but maybe this will just be while docked. But who knows... will find out probably in September.

Screen shots for advertising purposes are likely gonna be w higher resolution. Game code is something completely different. It could be leftover from copy paste code but nintendo first party games shouldn't have 4k even in a copy paste because the switch simply isn't capable of it. And Nintendo are only gonna copy certain code from other 1st party titles. So I'd say it's a forward compatible thing. Could be wrong but my ideas point to that

This doesn't change your point, but the switch and dock is capable of up to 4k 30fps output, and the oled and its dock up to 4k 60. Nintendo just doesnt do it. But hacked switches can.

To cut a long story short she is a character that was always kind of implied to be trans but not that the game has more directly made her trans people are calling it woke. The problem was in the GameCube version's Japanese script she called herself female pronouns and others called her a guy and said she was a cross dressing man. As many people said a cross dressing man would not be upset if he was called a man it was the the fact she said she was a girl. This implies she was born male but saw herself as a woman so characters saying he are not calling her by the pronouns she wanted. The problem is people take the cross dressing at face value when even in that context she hates being called he. So people will tell you that she was just a cross dressing man. But if that was true then she would have called herself he but she never does. But now that the character is more directly trans so many people are up in arms over it.

Treating the internet as an amalgam; one entity, is somewhat dystopian. Because anyone who contradicts themeselves practically invalidates their reasoning. I'm glad that they remade it and that they're not selling it at full price. On a hacked Nintendo Switch it runs 60fps when overclocked, the X1 chip used in the Switch actually has a native clock speed that's higher than the overclock on a hacked system. Nintendo purposefully gimped their own system which they knew was powerful enough and cool enough docked to run at normal clock speeds but they refused to do that for some reason.

All that I am trying to get at is the system is clearly fine running at the regular clock speeds for the chipset. Honestly the biggest limiting factor with the first switch is more so the ram than anything.

It cracks me up when people question why this new version of the game doesn't run at 60fps when the GC version did?! Last I checked, the GC version didn't have its assets/textures and lighting engine completely redone like this new Switch version does. That's obviously the reason why it's harder to run this new version at higher frame rates. If Nintendo wanted to simply do a direct port of the GC version they would have.

There are 2 other possibilities: - This code was aimed at stretching the internal rendering resolution to the native screen resolution - This code was just something developers added for testing on their developer workstations for one reason or another. I think Intelligent Systems engine runs at 4K or better (and so many other game developers), but they “downgrade” the game in order to perform right on the Switch, which is a 7 year old console, with even older components.

I really don't like the "pro" naming of the non-existant upgrade. It's for fun, not for professionals. That just sounds stupid. It did when PS did it, it would have sounded even more stupid had Switch copied it. And a new system should be a 3DSwitch. Not by name, but by features. I want the 3D back. Not sure if that would work with a touch screen without messing with our depth perception though... Unless they use some kind of 3d camera technology to directly interact with 3d objects that appeat to be in front of the screen, but it would still be inaccurate to interact with objects "behind" the screen. Whatever I'm going completely off topic. I like watermelons.

I also want a 3D Switch. I thought that 3D technology with the 3DS was ahead of its time. After using VR, the 3D depth brings so much to visuals. A bit more than 4K does imo.

@@Drstrange3000 indeed, when I had to choose between even simple HD (never had a 4k tv) or low resolution 3d handheld, I mostly went with the latter. Or both, in the case of Monster Hunter 3u, back when I still played that game. Both versions could share savegames and be used for local co-op, and I had no consistent preference which one I played when I played with my partner then. Sometimes 3ds for 3d, sometimes WiiU for controls, sometimes with and sometimes without tv for dual screen and HD or single screen handheld. But Resident Evil Revelations is a thousand times better on N3DS, with max 3d settings and gyro aim, than any other version of it, no questions asked. Luigi's mansion 3 is gorgeous, but 2 has more charm due to its 3d.
