I think audience are offended not because of the changes they made to Ramayana or Mustache for Prabhas. Audience are really offended by the way it was directed, the graphics, the lack of strength in characterization. Director can take liberty to make any fictional changes to the Historical story, but he should be able to convince the audience, that is what a movie is. Director utterly failed to convince audience.

You may make a movie in the most accurate way depicting the scripture and use the greatest special effects, but as long as you have audience that are cloze minded and judgemental without the minimum knowledge of the scripture or appreciation for the art, its gonna fail. You did a real good analysis of the whole endeavor. Ramudu has a mustache in the scripture.
