BBC Radio 1 clips - Part 10 of 10 - Feb 1992-Jul 1994

A tenth and final collection of clips from Radio 1 lifted from some old cassettes, with jingles, trailers, DJ chatter and general stuff and nonsense. This selection features Simon Bates, Mark Goodier, Bruno Brookes, Chris Evans, Nicky Campbell, Steve Wright and Neale James. Included is the opening to Chris Evans's first ever show on Radio 1. This selection concludes with Mark Goodier announcing the closure of Radio 1 on medium wave.

During that Medium Wave closedown loop, there's really RARE instrumental versions of some of the cuts in the then-current "Ultimate 1" package. Feel free to use these to construct a version of these jingles where the only words sung are "1 FM".

Somewhere in a box, I’m fairly sure I still have a tape with Chris Evans first ever Radio 1 Roadshow in the summer of 1992, just a few weeks before he first left the station to launch the Big Breakfast.

3:29 My favourite news lead-in. I must be mis-remembering as I thought this was phased out during the Iraq war when they went to bulletins every 15 minutes with a more stabby jingle and dramatic bed throughout the bulletin, then eventually replaced by the one at 10:59 which was also pretty good. 7:15 Old Steve Wright intro. Some kind soul told me a while back the song is Yanni - Within Attraction

I have a very short clip of the Gulf War news jingle right at the end of another of my compilations: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epioZ4mknq6na7c - I think this was only used for the additional updates at the top of the hour, with the normal jingle still used for the usual bulletins on the half hour. Yes, that is indeed the name of the track that Steve used to open and close the show with, which he was still using when he first joined Radio 2 on Saturday mornings. I wish he would he bring it back for his last afternoon show on R2 - I much prefer it to the current tune!

Also regarding that news music, it appeared again on Radio 1 about a decade later when Mark and Lard used it for their Vague News segment.

@@desandmick Thanks. At 8:24 on that video there is a jingle of Simon Bates saying the updates would be every 30 minutes, not 15 as I thought. I guess 15 would be a bit overkill and leave no time for anything else. It is also followed by an extended version of the old jingle playing through a war update, so it seems there was some crossover between the two.
