Her brother, who is also fighting in this war because Alicent crowned Aegon. The most hilarious part, is that this stupid plans of hers, isn't even to get rid of Aemond, the one that apparently scares her- she's like ok, Nyra, behead Aegon, here are the plans to kill my brother and lover, fuck my 16 year old Daeron. All to end the war and she can be happy. But she has no plans for Aemond here, who will never go down quietly, and will continue the war on his own if he has to.

She was forced to marry a man twice her age and have kids because she was ordered to..I'm sure she has some affection for her kids but it's always been shown as distant or cold. Even in season 1 when Aegon straight up asks is she loved him she pauses way longer then she should have then says "you're an imbecile" We are meant to think of it as "of course I love you" but idk. When I first saw that scene it put in my mind that maybe she indeed doesn't love her kids. Hell, Helaena lost a child because she was too busy sleeping with Criston so he wasn't there to protect her and SHE SLEEPS WITH HIM AGAIN AFTER. I think it's just a hard pill to swallow for some people because you want to believe that all mothers love their children unconditionally but that isn't the case... some women aren't meant to be mothers and I think these tragedies are what you get when you force something on people that don't necessarily want that kind of responsibility And as far as anger for Aemond it came across more like "it isn't fair" just because it was Rhaenrya's kid. She seemed more affronted by Rhaenyra than wanting any real justice for Aemon. At least imo

Alicent's character arch has been consistent; this means Alicent will make the same mistake over and over no matter how she tries to change, she just makes the same mistake in a diff way every time. THAT means she will hold her promise to Rhaenyra, but will end up betraying her one last time anyway even if not by choice. Maybe someone else will tell Aegon of her plans, maybe Larrys? Larrys is working hard to put Aegon back on the throne, he won't like Alicent meddling. Someone telling Aegon of Alicent's plan means Alicent is imprisoned for the rest of her life and doesn't get what she wants after all(and stays somewhat consistent with the books) and Rhaenyra dies to Aegon(again it stays consistent with the books).

Her last offer to go away together, even though she knows that Rhaenera would never stop reaching for throne, especially now, when they almost win the war. Alicent changes her line at the last moment and this last phrase sounds truly sincere. It is the bottom and Alicent knows that Rhaenyra will die. In their last conversation, Rhaenyra asked Alicent to stop and not to be blinded by pride. Now, when Alicent persuades Rhaenyra to leave the throne and go with her, Rhaenyra's face changes, she has been through too much to refuse now and in some way pride also prevents her from thinking that this is a trap.

I don't know why people are complaining about this Alicent scene. This is very much in her character. She makes HUGE life changing decisions based on feelings felt in the moment which is exactly who Alicent is. Alicent has been pushed aside and mistreated by her own sons; she doesn't even look at Aemond in the same, she looks at him like he's a monster to be put down. Her husband(anyone with real power) is dead, her dad left her and her sons are mistreating her as well as counting her out of everything. The only thing she has is her daughter and her grandchild. This is very much an Alicent move and she will stay consistent. Someone will betray Alicent once again and in turn Alicent will betray Rhaenyra one last time

I think I see what will happen in S3. Alicent has agreed to betray Aegon when Rhaenyra takes King’s Landing. But when Rhaenyra arrives, she’ll find that Aegon is missing. Thinking that Alicent has deceived her, Rhaenyra imprisoned her (and Helaena too). This would stay consistent with the book whilst also keeping consistent with the show’s portrayal of their fractured relationship.

I will say this about Alicent. she’s far from perfect and was not a great mother to her children, but at least it definitely seems like she’s not happy about the arrangement. We need to remember that at the end of the day she herself was a pawn, her father was the true mastermind of the usurpation plot. She wanted nothing to do with the war that broke out and when it comes to Aemond and Aegon, yeah it’s at least partly her fault they turned out the way they did but they’re also capable of making their own decisions. In this case, Aemond in particular could be considered too far gone at this point. I’m well aware my opinion may be considered an unpopular one, but this is just how I view things with this whole situation.

He has seen the unfair treatment given to him and his siblings while rhaenyra gets away with everything being father's favourite. And we all know what a great mother alicent is so let's not go there. Children are a reflection of their parents and this is clearly seen in this case what a poor job as been done by viserys and alicent in raising them and children can be very cruel as we know because they don't know better as their brain is still underdeveloped. How did Alicent show to love his children in s2? By not comforting Aegon when his son was brutally killed and making out with the same white cloack who was sworn to protect the king and his family? By telling him that he was useless when he was searching for advice how to be a good monarch? Only to Haelaena she was a good mother (in fact she said she wanted to escape with her and her child). I'm truly hoping this is only a bluff, but I have a fear it isn't.

Read the interviews with the writers. This isn't a ruse, sadly. They said this is genuine on Alicen't behalf. They massacred her character. If she wanted to end Rhenyra, she could have done so when Rhaenyra showed up in the sept- all Alicent had to do is call for a guard and the war would be over, Nyra dead, Alicent's sons safe. But the writers insist Alicent loves Rhaenyra.

I know some might now agree, but when i was watching this series especially season 2 , i noticed how when others tell me about the books these characters are completely different. Its like all the men do is dismiss women and causes drama, wars, and are just bloodthirsty. But then when the women come on its they are only suffering consequences from the men and repeat about being woman, and they are the ones wanting peace and are gentle kind rulers and that if women were in charge they would be peace constantly and no wars. Tell me if im wrong but i noticed that and one thing i liked about GoT was that men and women can be equally as messed up, besides joffery, he something else 😅 but like cersei being evil as heck and then that one women who was breastfeeding medieval homelander and just chucking people in the sky door. Everyone was equally bad rulers or good ones.

Aegon is miserable and in agony, why is it so hard to believe that show Alicent would sacrifice him to save as many family members as possible? There is no need to kill Aegon. Rhaenyra could exile him or imprison him. He isn't healthy enough not not fertile enough to father a male heir. Rhaenyra may be a woman, but she has a lot of sons that would also give her an advantage over Aegon. Jaehera has always been odd even before her twins death, the girl apprently is emotionless and doesn't react. She appears to be more on the spectrum than her mother. But the show doesn't show much of Jaehera at all. This is also not consistent with Alicents personality. I hope she is teicking Rhaenyra here.
