This may be a weird thing to say but, over the years you've ended up setting a pretty high standard for gaming content I can consume. As an unforeseen consequence, I don't watch that much KZbin anymore, which isn't a bad thing. (i'm bad at compliments, this is meant to be a compliment)

You seem to get really focused on one build and then not take items speculatively ever, even when you have plenty of money. Like...there were actually several opportunities to buy the Ganjo early on, but you just ignored them because you didn't have a way to double dip. Even without double dipping it's a fine item providing much needed scaling (which you lacked), and there are lots more ways to double dip than there are things that benefit from it, so you could easily have looked for those once you had it. Or the shielded item that has reduced cooldown based on damage...you can take that and then look for a damage scaling option, which there are plenty of. You also sold model ship when it was literally half of the scaling of Barbed Wire, which seems not great all things considered. It may not have been better than the booby trap, but it was definitely better than several of the other items you had.

I've heard that you want to avoid purchasing skills before say 7/8 because the 12 cost skills are where the biggest boosts happen. So when you grab skills early you are less likely to see the 12 cost skills later since you have to upgrade them before the 12 cost one shows up, so you could be stranded with a 3 cost version of a skill on day 9 and have to pic the 6 cost version instead of the 12 cost one waiting and never finding the 12/24 cost upgrade that could be massive. Also the items can be upgraded incrementally with lvlups bonuses, scraps, mob drops, etc. where as skills can't. The only exception thus far is Vanessa's weapons builds since the incremental upgrades can keep you winning and get you 10 wins as early as possible, and since some of the weapon skills start stacking value you can stack that value early. (Ex. the crit bump when you start a fight)

It's weird, but I often really enjoy the runs you lose, and I mean that in the best way possible. Like, you don't give up. You attempt a pivot even when things aren't lining up, you work with what you've got, you play really well in the moment and you actually TRY things instead of just doing the same boring winning build over and over again. I think that speaks volumes about how willing you are to learn about the game and the strategies involved and it makes it that much more interesting to see. In other words, amazing speedrun now you gotta do the 0% !

It’s hard to learn a system by only doing what works. Part of the learning experience is doing something that doesn’t work, getting absolutely dunked on for doing so, and understanding why that thing doesn’t work. Sometimes the best thing to do is to say “Fuck it, if I lose I lose, but at least I’ll know more about this type of interaction or deck or whatever” Rhaps is very good at that.

I'm pretty sure knee brace only works if it's actively out on the playing field. If that's the case then having it in your inventory the entire game was just taking up unused space.
@richardstekinger22322 күн бұрын
he probably saved it for the cooldown reduction cheese. you get more value out of % based reduction if your cd is higher. once it's set it remains a fix value so when you drop the brace off board your items will be quicker.

My man, you should take the L and put Knee Brace on to buff up your HP to win in the long run instead. How many times? I don't know, three days at least.

For crusher claw I think you really want something like Silk where you can reliably make it huge throughout the run, if you actually focus on spending gold on buying and selling for those scaling items they go out of control quite reliably. Even coral armor which necessitates aquatic items I can generally get it to 700-ish easily, 1k+ in a good run. Silk which scales off chocolates, spare change, and gumballs, amongst every other non weapon, should be quite easy to scale if you actually focus on it.

I was gonna say something about leaving a key for the other entrance, but I realize that it could be _misconstrued_ so uh... Maybe just gonna tank the lasers.

Mission failed. Don't worry, we'll get them next time. I guess it's just in the nature of the game where you can get a run where you just don't get the pieces you need in time to keep up with player opponents

Spoilers for the run. This is mostly criticism, hopefully it's constructive as well. Definitely some bad decisions this run, and it can mostly be boiled down to holding onto options that were pretty clearly irrelevant. 1. Keeping three items that scale off of your shielding and only using one for most of the run, leaving the other two wasting space in your stash and deterring you from buying other things. Even if it feels like a lost opportunity to sell them, sitting on those items for so long is just bad. 2. Not picking up buy/sell items while you have Bootstraps, partly because of the aforementioned lack of space. 3. Buying and keeping Knee Brace, without a plan to use it. It's an item that is helpful for CD reduction, but it shouldn't be taking up space unless you have extra room in your stash already, and you are actively looking to visit Curio to find more CD reduction. Alternatively, you can use it for the HP gain, since you were having trouble with player fights. Instead of hoping for a win, just accept an early loss against a Vanessa and gain a solid chunk of HP. 4. Trying to go for bronze skills and items to be upgraded. Bronze things are often a high risk after day 4, with the chance of them appearing dropping drastically as the days go by. Skills suffer especially hard because of this, because they are harder to come by, and once you reach day 10 you can never upgrade a bronze skill again. I'm pointing this out mostly because of Crusher Claw and Spiky Shield though. Crusher Claw was never getting upgraded without a major shift in your build to use Bootstraps, and with your low to moderate shield granting items it wasn't going to be the damage item of choice. Spiky Shield on the other hand, is an item that isn't particularly difficult to find, and you had the money to do just that, meaning it likely would have been a good idea to sell it and try to find an upgrade from a merchant later. Of course, I'm not the one playing, and it's much easier for me to point out bad decisions after the fact. I just hope to increase your understanding for future runs, because I highly enjoy watching people win and lose while making good decisions, rather than watching them do either while making puzzling decisions. And I do enjoy that you are experimenting, I just want you to have a better chance of success because of decisions you have agency over. I hope this was more helpful than hurtful, and I wish you a happy Thanksgiving and many successful runs in the future!

Or at least reading comprehension for what words like "board" or tags like weapon mean. The whole sell cash register for space then keep taking economy items feels like you are tied up generating dialogue instead.
