Hello, thanks for this video. One minor thing that i noticed, when you set the PASS_WARN_AGE in login.defs to 45 it will trigger a warning message after 15 days. This is because it starts its counting from the max_days back. Anyway, still a great content!

Thank you for this video! I have few questions or comments about this solution: 1) In 14 it says "root directory". I think the script should be put in / directory, but not in /root (root user home dir), right? 2) In 15.2 it says "All user passwords should expire after 60 days...". I see you edited login.defs whish only applies settings to all future users. I wonder what did they mean by "all users" here? 3) In 16 and 17 it says "Only members of the accounting group should have access to the /accounting dir". I wonder what does it mean by access? Just LS or LS and CD commands or anything? Is it correct to run chmod 770 for this directory? 4) In 19 I wonder if we should use logger command or just echo? Echo will append the text to the /var/log/messages while logger will do a normal entry in that log file. You can't see the entry made by echo command if you run journalctl -e though if you run tail /var/log/messages, then you can see both entries. Thanks! PS: Since we don't know how RH grading script works, we should be pretty careful when solving their tasks during exam. I would even use GUI tools like cockpit etc if it's available.

I noticed that "philsfile" and "laurasfile" both have permissions 664. When I make them on my RHEL 9 box they get assigned 644. My umask is 0022. Would you know why I can't seem to create new files as Phil or Laura with 664 perms? Thanks for the great video series, by the way.

Hi, Just a question on root directory, will it not be on the '/' ? You wrote your script on the home directory instead.

I think if phil created the file, only Phil should have the right to delete it, not Laura. Or did I miss something? Plus, the file RHCSA 8 Practice Exam does not contain questions about facl and ftp.

Laura would be the owner of the file/folder. Accounting group itself cannot have ownership.
