Its the 1860's. Skarloey is proud to show off his new cab and wheels, but Rheneas has other things to worry about: The quarry. Whilst he tries to conquer his fear of rockslides, has Skarloey been keeping a fear of his own?
Special thanks to Ryan H of Sodor Island Forums as I'm sure you'll agree the episode has been brought to a new level of realism through his extensive soundscape editing! I hope you appreciate his effort as much as I do. Its been great to work in collaboration with him.
Also big thanks to TheJamTram who came up with the title! "Think of a title and other stories" wasn't my best idea.
I absolutely love Skarloey and Rheneas as characters, so I knew I was bound to write an episode about them at some point! This plays on the concept that through S8-11 Skarloey was seen as timid and afraid of storms. In the RWS Skarloey is the more energetic and immature one when Rheneas keeps level headed, but as they evolved to the CGI Series its Skarloey that's learnt his ways and matured yet Rheneas has become more adventurous.
As for the idea of the blast shelter, many quarries in Wales did in fact construct these for NG engines to take shelter in during explosive mining.
